In the quest for the low cost vacation options, more people are hitting the roads this year for the every fun car trip. There is romantic quality to the idea of packing up the car and hitting the open road. You can travel to most of the top destinations in the area this way. The better part of this low cost vacation option is that you will discover many other interesting places to visit on the way. There is only one problem with this. For many people, travelling for hours in a car is not as comfortable as they may want it to be.
Your car does lack for some of the creature comforts that travelling by air plane or cruise ship might have. This is why it is so important to plan and pack well in advance for your car trip. This is not just about the clothes and items that you will need when you get to where you are going. We are talking about some of the most important things to make this low cost vacation option as much fun and carefree as the bigger trips that many people choose to make.
Number One: Portable DVD Player
If you are traveling with children on this car trip, a portable DVD player is something that you can not leave home without. Ok, truthfully even if it is just you and some of your best friends, you need to bring along this piece of electronics. Staring out the car window or playing car games can only keep people entertained for so long. Watching movies as you travel with your low cost vacation, will make the trip much more pleasurable. Many cars come with a portable DVD player already installed. If you are not lucky enough to have one of these upgraded rides then you can buy one and set it up in your car for all to see.
Number Two: Small Cooler
A small cooler with easy access lid is something that many people may not think about on a car trip. You may have packed your big cooler and tossed it in the trunk of the car for your low cost vacation. What happens when you want a cold drink or snack? Pulling the car over in the nearest parking lot is not something that most people want to do. It can add too much extra time on your drive to your destination. A small cooler that can rest on a seat or at someones feet will be a great time saver for your low cost vacation.
Number Three: Portable GPS
The days of using a map are long gone when it comes to going on a car trip. Most people will not leave home these days without a portable GPS system. There is good reason for this. As you drive around roads to trying to find your way back to the highway, you realize that you are lost. Flip on your portable GPS and you will be back on your way to a fun time before you know it.
