My Breast Cancer Whole Body Cleanse

By Edited May 23, 2014 0 0

It may seem hard to believe, but the way to attain optimal health lies in the food that you eat. It is much easier to maintain good health than to struggle your way back to good health once you have fallen ill. I learned this the hard way. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I was shocked and in disbelief. I couldn't imagine how this could happen to me.

Luckily, I was diagnosed early and with the intervention of surgery to remove my tumor, I was left with a less than optimally healthy body to rebuild and strengthen. I was determined to bring my health back to a level where I would be capable of fighting off the return of cancer.

I had to start from scratch. I read and researched as much as I could about the benefits of diet in good health. I found the links astounding and never imagined how much control I have over my body's health.

A whole body cleanse is the first step to gaining optimal health. Removing toxins and accumulated build up of pollutants in our bodies is a vital step. The way I chose to do this is with the diet I consume. I became a purist and cut out all of the known carcinogens that would make my risk of dealing with a recurrence higher. I cut out all processed foods, refined white sugar, white flour, dairy and eggs. I eliminated the eggs because I found out that I am allergic to them. Otherwise, consuming free-range eggs from chickens fed omega 3s (like flax) are fine.

There are other factors in the environment that are not so easy to control. Many cancers are attributed to environmental factors such as chemicals and pollutants in our environment. In the case of hormonally driven cancers such as prostate cancer and breast cancer, which is what I suffered from, there are definite links between nutrition and the disease.

The most important thing that I have learned is that I must stay away from commercially grown produce. Eating pure, fresh organic foods is best. They retain more nutrients and are not exposed to a multitude of pesticides and chemicals. The last thing I need while I am whole body cleansing is to introduce more toxins into my body.

Another factor in whole body cleansing is managing stress. My holistic doctor always emphasizes the importance of a calm mental state when one is in the process of healing. He always recommends stress lowering activities such as yoga, breast massage and regular physical activity. My activity of choice is walking. Since learning that regular exercise alone can cut my risk of recurrence by up to 50%, I make certain that I take a brisk 45 walk 4-5 days per week. I add some light weights into my routine for muscle strengthening. Living in the north east, winters do no cooperate with walking outside. Plus, I am not a fan of the cold. So, when it is under 40 degrees or so, I walk inside on a treadmill.

Another important aspect to my whole body cleansing regime is the incorporation of fresh fruit and green smoothies as well as green juices that I prepare at home in our juicer. When I added the green smoothies to my regime, I felt the benefits of regularity quite quickly! At least 4-5 times per week, I prepare a smoothie for my family that contains blueberries, strawberries, kiwi, 1/2 banana, and mango. All of the produce is organic, whenever possible. These fruits are high in nutrients and help to keep my immune system strong. To the blender I add enough coconut water to blend the ingredients into a delicious, filling drink. I then add a couple of handfuls of baby spinach or other green. I blend it up and wa-la, I have a freshly made smoothie. Typically drinking this in the morning carries me through to lunch and sometimes longer.

Preparing freshly juiced greens is also important for whole body cleansing. I prepare juice several times each week. Some days I have both the smoothie and a juice drink. Some days one or the other. But I always know that when I consume these beverages, I am able to easily fulfill my quota of at least 10 fruits and vegetables each day.

To prepare the juice, I add a couple of carrots, celery, green apple, broccoli, kale, cucumber, swiss chard, and collard green. I try to have at least 7 or 8 different elements in the juice, although it is fine to vary them. Sometimes I will add fresh beets with their greens for extra cleansing. Once I juice everything, I consume the juice within 30 minutes to ensure that all of the nutrients are intact. After that point, the juice starts to oxidize and lose valuable nutrients.

Moving your lymph system with a bristle brush is also a part of my regime. Brushing your body in a counter-clockwise motion right before showering or bathing is extremely beneficial for keeping your lymph system active and cleansed.

All of these elements, diet, nutrition, mental health and exercise are vital in whole body cleansing. Your organs will be able to handle more efficiently the toxins that we cannot control in our environment. You will be rewarded you're your efforts with a stronger and healthier body and clearer mind. It is so important to take care of your health while it is good. Don't neglect your body. You wouldn't want it to neglect you!
