My Favorite Plants

By | Dec 9, 2009 | 4 Comments | Rating: 1

Here are some of my favourite plants and trees and a bit of information on them.

Chinese Fan Palm
A tough plant. Really hard to kill this one. Needs bright sunlight an good amount of water. It is a slow growing palm but once it grows tall, really looks good.

Lemon Tree
Love it for the amount of fruit it produces and I really love lemons too. Doesn't require much care, just provide it with large amounts of water, sunlight and food(fertilizer) and see it bloom.

Bamboo Palm
Makes a great indoor plant. Can be placed outdoors, if necessary shade and care is provided. They have a bamboo like stem with beautiful leaves.

Ponytail Palm
A beautiful looking palm. Can be kept indoors as well as outdoors. As the name suggests, leaves of this plant form a ponytail.

Spider Plant
I love this plant for the amount of babies it can produce. If you have a healthy spider plant at your place and are providing it the right conditions, then there is no doubt that your house will be full of these plants in a short while and your friends' houses also.

Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera has numerous health benefits. If its gel is orally consumed, can help fight diseases and is quite beneficial for inner body systems and functioning of vital organs.

Sago Palm
A plant known for its beauty, looks different and beautiful in lawns as well as in pots.

Rose Plants
Roses are amazing flowers with a beautiful fragrance. When the roses bloom, that is one of the best sights on earth.

Peace Lily
A really common houseplant. Makes a great indoor plant.

Chinese evergreen
Suitable for low light areas of your house. Makes a great indoor plant, full of beautiful leaves.

Cast Iron plant
A real tough plant. It will survive without appropriate sunlight and watering. Good for those who often forget to care for their plants.

Plant facts

Here are some really interesting facts about plants.

Some plants can live for thousands of years.

Squirrels have been playing an important role in growing new trees. They often bury nuts underground and often forget where they hid them.

Arrowroot, an antidote for poisoned arrows, is used as a thickener in cooking (so if you ever get shot with a poison arrow, look in your kitchen cabinet).

They cool down the atmosphere around them.

Love my house plants. I do find the peace lily a little tricky though. As you say spider plants thrive as long as you supply water
