My Most Anticipated Games At E3 2012

By Edited Jun 29, 2015 0 2
e3 2012

With E3 coming up on June 5th, I feel it's time to do some reflection on all the games I am looking forward to seeing there. The best part of E3 is the surprises that the different companies bring out, but there are always certain things one looks forward to more than others.

Resident Evil 6

Resident Evil 6
PC, PS3, XBOX 360

While all the other games on this interest me, this is the real reason I'll follow E3. The day this was announced my friends and myself went wild for days talking about it. Primarily because it introduced Chris Redfield and Leon Kennedy in the same game. Given, they are not even on the same continent but it still serves to satisfy fans of both. Leon is in America protecting the president who reveals the truth of the Racoon City Incident and Chris is in China battling fierce bioterrorists. The game focuses on both zombies and J'avo who think, plan, and heal themselves. The game is said to be very similar to it's predecessors, which is fine. Resident Evil games have been perfects since Resident Evil 4, don't try and fix it.

Fable The Journey

Fable The Journey
XBOX 360

Even though there are thousands of RPG genre games out there, there's nothing that hooks you quite like the Fable series (expect maybe Dragon Age, but I still have to wait for that). This Fable takes place five years after Fable 3. It focuses on Theresa and a man named Gabriel who journey across Albion to get to the Spire in order to escape a mysterious entity known as The Corruption. This is the first Fable that doesn't deal with the bloodline of the main characters of the previous bloodline. Except Theresa, she's technically of that bloodline, I guess. The game is similar to other Fable titles in terms of gameplay and the levelling system, but creator Peter Molyneux insists that it will have some innovative kinect gameplay.

Call of Duty Black Ops II

PC, PS3, XBOX 360

Now that the story of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series has come to a close, it's Treyarch's turn to continue the story of Call of Duty: Black Ops. The main character Alex Mason returns in for some good old Cold War action. The story also spans into 2025 where David Mason, son of Alex Mason now fights in a new Cold War with China. I only hope that this game will not be quite as "mind-f%$king" as the first one was. Zombies, the side game that sets Treyarchs' games apart from Infinity Wards' will be returning as well. Supposed it will have a deeper multiplayer experience that was unavailable in the others. As for multiplayer, fans of the series should know it'll be somewhat new maps with somewhat new weapons.

Assassins Creed III

Assassin's Creed III
PC, PS3, XBOX 360

Like Nazis and zombies, redcoats are just one of those historical armies that you want to kill.

...Unless you're British.

In Assassin's Creed III, you are taken out of the inspirational renaissance and into the American Revolution with the new main character, Connor. You won't be scaling too much grand architecture like in previous games. Now you'll be like a wild animal swinging from trees and climbing cliffs. Like in previous games there will be several historical characters making an appearance as well. George Washington and Benjamin Franklin were confirmed to make an appearance.

The Last Of Us

The Last Of Us
PS3

If you can find a way to include "post-apocalyptic" in anything, I'm all over it. The Last of Us is set in post-apocalyptic Pittsburg, Pennsylvania where most of humanity has been infected by a virus that turns them into zombie-like creatures, those who are not infected struggle daily to survive. The story follows Ellie and Joel. Joel is a hardened survivor and Ellie is a 14 year old child who can't remember the world as it used to be. The game is developed by famed Naughty Dog who is known for their awesome Uncharted series, though every time I hear of them I immediately think of Crash Bandicoot. Much like Uncharted, this is an third person action-adventure sort of game. It seems like a good thrill for those who have been without a good Silent Hill games for awhile. Hopefully slightly less frightening, though.

Halo 4

Halo 4
XBOX 360

I'll admit, I'm not a particular fan of the Halo series, but this is just one of those games you can't help but include. With the past few Halo games being somewhat disappointing to fans, it's interesting to see what they have done with the game now that Bungie is no longer the developer. Much of the plot is being kept a well protected secret but it's been stated that this game focuses on Master Chiefs' relationship with his Virtual Intelligence Cortana. Regardless, if you've ever been a Halo fan, you can't help be at least interested in the game.
