You Are What You Eat, The Plan That Will Change Your Life by Dr. Gillian McKeith
This is one of my all time favorites and I wrote the article You Are What You Eat by Dr. Gillian McKeith outlining the vast amount of information contained within this book. Dr. McKeith is described as “The world’s most acclaimed nutritionist” by the Daily Mail in the UK. She is well known for her ability to turn around the worst eaters and setting them on a path of a healthier and slimmer life. The book includes a food IQ test; seven-day jump start plan; information about making small changes for large results; and find out what to eat to help with stress, lose weight, and even improve your love life.
The Really Simple, No Nonsense Nutrition Guide by Edward R. Blonz, PH.D
The book is designed to help you decide which foods are best for your health and provides the information in a simple to understand format. Most nutrition articles are not written by scientists, Dr. Blonz holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in nutrition from the University of California at Davis, where he worked on the role of insulin in the development of obesity. This book provides excellent information about what your body needs; how food works in your body; how what you eat can improve your health; the potential problems with what you eat; becoming a savvy shopper; and putting it all together.
Sugar Busters Quick and Easy Cookbook by H. Leighton Steward, Sam S. Andrews, M.D., Morrison C. Bethea, M.D. and Luis A. Balart, M.D.
This cookbook is designed to be user-friendly and is divided into three primary sections that consist of recipes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Information is provided about how sugar causes your body to store fat; how the glycemic index can help you distinguish good carbohydrates from bad; how you can give your children a quality diet; the carbohydrate-protein-fat ratio; plus portion sizes, calories and more.
HELP – Healthy Exchanges Lifetime Plan by JoAnna M. Lund
For twenty-eight years JoAnna Lund was the diet queen of DeWitt, Iowa. She tried ever diet program out there. The book includes information on food exchanges and weight-loss choices; sodium, fat, cholesterol, and processed foods; best healthy exchanges tips; the ‘man-friendly’ healthy exchanges kitchen, and much, much more.
