Located in Manhattan's Midtown East Side, McFadden's is one of the hottest bars and clubs in NYC.
If you are looking for a celebrate St. Patrick's Day, July 4th, or Halloween, McFadden's is always hopping.
The best/worst part about McFadden's is that it makes me feel like I'm in a time warp. Something about this place makes me feel like a clueless freshman at frat party. Despite being in Midtown, this club tends to attract the Wall St. Frat Boy crowd, people who know how to work hard and play hard!
From the sticky beer-soaked floors, to the crowd-moshing, to the blaring loud music, this place provides all the "comforts" of college life.
I mostly come to McFadden's on holidays, and I'm always happy with the music. They tend to play favorites like the classic Sweet Caroline to current Lady Gaga hits. I always come out of McFadden's feeling pumped--even if my eardrums are being ruptured in the process.
If you're planning to come to McFadden's on Halloween, be prepared to stand in line outside for at least 30 min. The place will be packed and bouncers will be vigilantly carding for underagers. When I came for Halloween, they gave the option of either a $10 cover charge, or $30 for open bar the rest of the evening.
McFadden's is a fun place to hang out on a Saturday night, St. Patty's, July 4th, or Halloween, but not the best place for casual dinner/drinks. On a regular night, the service tends to be slow, and the food overpriced for the quality. I once sat the bar at McFadden's for a drink and fries, and remember that the fries were stale and soggy.
On peak nights, they have guest bartenders and invitations to dance on the bar counter. I did not take them up on the offer because I did not want those pictures to end up on Facebook.
Located close to Midtown's Grand Central, McFadden's is one of the hottest bars/clubs in NYC because of it's young, fun, and lively atmosphere. If you're expecting fun company and great dance music, then this is the place to be. If you are expecting foods and drinks that cater to discerning palates, then you're better off somewhere else.
At McFadden's you'll find slightly below average Irish bar food and drinks, but great music and fun crowd to make up for it.
If you're looking to relive your college days, then it is worth paying a visit to McFadden's.
