Sweating at night is an aggravating condition that can cause you to wake up at various times throughout the night in a wet bed. Night sweats in men can rob men of precious sleep and can turn into an chronic problem. Here are a few natural ways to treat and help prevent night sweats in men.

One of the simplest ways to control the amount of sweat produced is to be sure that you are not unintentionally overheating your body. Dress yourself in thin layers that can easily be shed throughout the night as the temperature changes. This also goes for the bedding--instead of using one thick comforter, layers sheets and blankets on the bed to ensure that you stay at a comfortable temperature.

Be mindful of activities that can raise your body temperature and limit these activities before bedtime. Activities like exercising will raise the body's temperature to a higher than normal level and can contribute to night sweats in men. Save these activities for the daytime.

Consider making small changes in your diet. Avoid spicy foods at dinnertime and before bed. Eating spicy foods can raise some people's body temperature and cause night sweats. Another easy trick to help prevent night sweats in men is to increase your intake of water. A cool glass of water will help cool down the body's internal temperature and also replenish fluids lost from sweating.

Some doctors advise their patients who complain of night sweats to focus on relaxing before bed. Stress and anxiety can be the biggest contributors to night sweats. Make a concentrated effort to relax before bed by listening to music, reading, or taking a cool bath. Reducing your stress level can also help other sleep disorders such as insomnia.
