Zagreb, the capital city of Croatia has some amazing attractions to visit and the city is growing ever popular as a tourist destination. If you have a small budget whilst you are travelling in the city there are several places you can travel to at no cost or a small fee.
The Botanical Gardens of Zagreb are truly beautiful and entrance is free of charge month in month out. Along with the local flora and fauna of Croatia there are glasshouse collections, numerous rockeries with alpine plants and marsh plants in the lakes and ponds. The gardens are set out in the English landscape style and attract a large number of visitors each year. You can take a picnic with you or visit the cafe for a delicious sandwich and a mug of coffee.

Croatian Nation Theatre
The Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb has some amazing discounts available throughout the year and tickets start at 25Kn - around £2.50. You will find performances, ballets and operas held in the theatre with a varied programme of both modern and classical music. The 2011 plays include War and Peace and Hamlet and Swan Lake is one of the ballets that is shown throughout every season.

Zagreb Zoo is open everyday from 9am 'til 8pm and is extremely popular with families. You can visit the zebras, sea lions and lions as well as seeing lots of educational exhibits. An adult ticket is 30kn, children are 20kn and kids under 7 are free. There are several excellent tours and you can always catch most of the animals during feeding time.
