Do you love the mountains?  How about riding through a beautiful green forest and walking down cobblestone streets?  If this sounds like fun; come with me and let’s take a journey of fun for all to Gatlinburg, Tennessee.   This is a place designed for families to go and have a great time.

Some of the best things to do in Gatlinburg is visit all the Ripley’s attractions.  You can purchase a package or decide which wants you want to visit and pay for each one separately.  The great part is that you get a lot of bang for your buck.  With the Ripley’s package you get tickets to the Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum, Ripley’s Hunted House, Ripley’s 4-D Theatre, and the Ripley’s Aquarium.  As a side note, if you are in the military you can get discounted tickets for 75% off the package; now that’s a deal.  If you enjoy looking at yourself (and many of us do); check out the House of Mirrors.  Kids just love this place as they get to see themselves in all types of shapes and sizes.

If you are looking for a great place to eat, head on over to the Alamo.  They serve one of the best steaks that you’ve ever had and the broccoli is oozing with butter and seasoned to perfection.  Even the filet mignon is a  watering experience of delight.  If you want the best donuts, go to Friar Tucks.  First of all, it’s whimsical because it has the little half-door and the exterior looks like something from the medieval period.  The donuts are so delicious that they almost seemed homemade.  Throughout the downtown Gatlinburg area there are so many other places to eat no matter what your taste; so by all means eat well.

For those that enjoy shopping; you can spend your days wandering through the downtown area visiting all the little specialty shops.  If you are looking to get someone a unique gift for a birthday, Christmas, etc., you can find something to fit your budget and their taste.   For the mall shoppers on your trip, try the Gatlinburg Mountain Mall.  Although it is nowhere near the size of an average mall in most cities; this six level shopping center has some interesting stores.  For those that like great arts and crafts, there is Hobbywood on Level F.  The sports fan can find some cool collectibles at Home & Sports Collections on Level E.  For the weapons enthusiast visit the Martial Arts & Knife Superstore on Level D and last but not least for the lady that wants a special memento to take home to the kids or grandkids, visit Cool Gifts from A to Z, featuring their Alphabet Art on Level E.

With so much to do in Gatlinburg, the vacation of a lifetime is just over the mountain.  Pack your bags, fill up the tank and head for the hills.  With great attractions, tasty foods, and more shopping than any one person can do; there is something for everyone.  As an added bonus, if you get tired of Gatlinburg, drive down the road and around the bend for even more amazing fun in Pigeon Forge, TN.  And you didn’t think it was possible; two great places to visit for the price of one.
