Stars in RollerBall Available on Netflix Streaming In April

The Netflix streaming service is starting to once again dominate the streaming market, pulling away from competitors such as Amazon and Hulu.

Netflix is still focusing its attention on shows as opposed to movies as is witnessed with the list of somewhat stale offerings to be released in April in the movie category.

That said, for only $7.99 per month there’s still a ton of material to make Netflix streaming worth the cost.

Netflix’s newly produced original content series House of Cards, starring Kevin Spacey is arguably worth the $7.99 monthly subscription fee alone.

In addition, Netflix is close to releasing a new season of the critically acclaimed series, Arrested Development.  Sadly Netflix has announced it will only be producing this one additional season of Arrested Development.  Likely the cost to produce the show given its star studded cast is proving to be too costly in the long term to produce more than one season.

Along with Netflix’s strong stable of TV shows there are some new to Netflix streaming movies being added to the service this April.

Pick Of The Month

The Last Temptation Of Christ

This is an interesting film if nothing else.  It was directed by Martin Scorsese who was nominated for an Academy Award for directing The Last Temptation Of Christ and Barbara Hershey won a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Mary Magdalene in the film.

The film was controversial when it came out as it explores some situations in which Jesus may have struggled with temptations such as lust along as doubting himself and his purpose in life.

The Last Temptation Of Christ is a clever re-imaging of the life of Jesus including a scene in which Jesus did not die on the cross but instead lived out his life into old age.

The Last Temptation Of Christ will be available on Netflix Streaming in April.

Family Movie Pick Of The Month:

Are We There Yet?

For those of you familiar with Ice Cube the rapper, of NWA and Boyz N The Hood, you may not be expecting to see him in a family friendly comedy.  However, he does a good job in Are We There Yet, partly due to his scowling and menacing demeanor.

Are We There Yet also co-stars Jay Mohr who puts in a strong comedic performance as Ice Cubes Best friend, Marty in the film.

Be warned that this film was universally panned by critics.  However it was also nominated for Favorite Movie at the 2006 Kid’s Choice Awards so even though critics despised the film, kids did not.

If you have kids in the 8-14 year old range they should enjoy Are We There Yet, also available on Netflix streaming in April.
