New York City is a city of diversity. In fact, the very diversity of its culture, livelihood, resources and interests brings lots of pleasant surprises to someone who is less informed about New York City.

Culture wise, New York is a city of diversity wherein different races come from all over the world. "Give me your tired your poor "which is the very essence why the Statue of Liberty stands at New York City harbor as she welcomes immigrants who want to find greener pastures they could not find from the land they came from. Soon it became a melting pot overflowing with hopeful immigrants until the land could take no longer. Yet to this date, millions still flock to the US still pursuing the great American dream. The cultural diversity is the very root of so many other diversities of interests and activities you will find in New York.

New York is a city of diversity as evidenced by the numerous ethnic festivals and parades that fill its streets almost any time of the year. People flock to New York in time for the festivities that hold the most attraction to them. Floats, marching bands and an assortment of cultural presentations keep drawing crowds from all walks of life.

During the early days of film making, New York was once in the center of the industry. Movie making made up much of the diversity in the city. To date, Broadway still has some of the oldest movie theaters, and a lot of visitors still flock to New York to experience one of the many interesting Broadway plays that New York as a city of diversity has to offer.

New York is home to two leading names in the music industry like Sony BMG and Warner Music Group. Raw talents coming from a pool of diverse musical influence producing diverse musical genre from classical music, to hometown hip-hop, rap, Latin /Hispanic beats, Jamaican Reggae to blues, jazz as well as mellow and hard metal rock. Everybody can dream to make it big when in New York, it being a city of diversity.

Models try their luck in New York's top modeling agencies while fashion designers bring their creativity to New York City with the goal of setting fashion trends and be recognized by New York City's high society. New York is a city of diversity even in styles of dressing which will all depend on one's interest or profession. One could be carelessly flamboyant or be crisply business like or sophisticated or even just plain dowdy since everybody seems to be sporting this too.

New York is a city of diversity where anyone can be an artist, a musician, a chef, a writer, an investor or a financial wizard. People bring transact all kinds of business at Wall Street, financial hub. This is where you will find major stock exchanges, the NYSE, AMEX, NYMEX, NASDAQ and NYBOT. Wall Street has seen many failure and successes, stories of triumphs and tragic suicides as the stock markets fell during times of depression.

People will never forget the World Trade Center which is the very epitome of New York as a city of diversity. This is where businesses from different parts of the globe can set up their offices that even Osama Bin Laden who masterminded Al Qaeda's 9/11 act of terrorism went about conducting his normal trading business here.

New York is a city of diversity, yet it has often been portrayed by movies, TV series, newspapers and novels as an asphalt jungle where crime abounds and lawlessness seem to be the order of the day. People are surprised to find family friendly venues where they can find safe and peaceful recreation. Central Park alone is not just a mugger's haven or a homeless hobo's refuge but a gold mine for nature lovers.

New York is a city of diversity where it is currently embarking in building a great Sports Arena for different athletic competitions. The annual New York City Marathon event brings over thousands of participants since this is a much awaited event for marathoners not only from all over America but also from all over the world.

New York is a city of diversity which is already etched in its character and its natural charm. Tourists who have had a taste of its diversity keep coming back for more surprises they hope to discover in New York, a city of diversity.
