Nokia Lumia 820 is a mid-segment smartphone running Windows Phone 8. It is one of the Nokia's first phones alongwith the Lumia 920 to feature Microsoft's latest mobile operating system. In this article, we'll be looking at the specifications of this mid-range smartphone in detail.

Nokia Lumia 820 supports quad-band GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 2G networks, quad-band HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 3G networks as well as 4G LTE 800 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2600 bands. It has a micro-SIM and supports global roaming.

Nokia Lumia 820 measures 123.8 x 68.5 x 9.9 mm and 160 grams and is more compact than its big brother, the Lumia 920. The phone has a plastic body and a removable back panel unlike the unibody design of the Lumia 920. It has a solid build and nice feel which makes it easy to grip and operate with a single hand.

The phone comes with a 4.3 inches AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 X 800 pixels which translates into a pixel density of 217 ppi. It comes with Nokia's ClearBlack technology which ensures amazing sunlight legibility by reducing reflections. The display supports up to 16 million colors and multi-touch.

Processor and Memory:
The handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.5 GHz dual-core Krait processor with Adreno 225 Graphics processor. It has an internal memory of 8 GB and 1 GB of RAM. You also get a memory card slot where you can insert external microSD cards of up to 64 GB.

Nokia Lumia features a primary camera with an 8 megapixel sensor which can take high-resolution photos of up to 3264 X 2448 pixels as well as record videos of HD 1080p at the rate of 30 frames per second. The camera comes with Carl Zeiss Tessar Lens with F2.2 aperture and dual-LED flash. Other features include geo-tagging, autofocus, ISO, white balance, Smart Shoot and much more. The secondary front facing VGA camera can be used for portrait photos and video calls.

Operating System and Applications:
Nokia Lumia 820 rolls out with Microsoft Windows Phone 8 operating system out of the box. Some of the pre-installed applications include Nokia Maps, Nokia Drive, Nokia City Lens, Microsoft Office Suite, music and video player, video and photo editor, calculator, alarm clock and much more. Users can also download third-party apps from the Window Phone store but the number of apps available is much less compared to the Android and iOS stores.

The phone is equipped with a standard Li-Ion 1650 mAh battery with a stand-by time of 330 hours on both 2G and 3G networks, talk time of 14 hours(2G)/8 hours (3G) and music play of up to 55 hours.
