Non ChexSystems Bank List

By | Oct 6, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

I've seen people looking to find a non chexsystems bank list to help jumpstart the search for a bank that does not use chexsystems. However, there is a lot of misinformation about this.

For one, most of these so called "lists" are straight out fakes. The information contains banks that in fact DO require a ChexSystems credit check. Other lists contain outdated information that's no good to anyone. The worst are those websites that try and con people into paying money for a freely available public list or a fake list. Just last week I saw a website charging 200 dollars, YES 200 dollars, for a non chexsystems bank list that was clearly fake!

So my recommendation to you is to avoid any so called list you find online and just go ahead and create your own. Creating your own list is actually not as hard as you might think. Here's how to do it.

Compile a List of Local Banks

Most of the non chexsystems banks I've encoutered are small banks, those banks you find in your local neighborhood. The massive banking chains like Bank of America are usually no good because these organizations partner with ChexSystems and it's pretty much impossible to start a new checking account with these companies if your name is on the Chex List. Once you compile the list, cross off the big bank chains, or put them on a separate list to call later.

Call the Local Banks

The next step is to actually look at that list of local banks and call and ask if they require ChexSystems credit checks. A fair portion of these will, but if you are lucky, one or two might not. These, my friend, are the banks you want to visit to open you checking account with. Now just be warned that if these banks don't require a ChexSystems check, they may instead do a credit check. Remember, ChexSystems and credit checks are completley two different things. ChexSystems is a database of people who are considered unsuitable to be banking clients because they have proven to be bad banking clients already (cashing bad checks, not paying overdraft, etc) while your Credit History deals with your ability to pay your debts.

Even though it's hard to open a bank account if your name is in the ChexSystems records, you can still open a bank account by finding non chexsystems banks. Just don't trust those non chexsystems bank lists you see floating around on the web since they are usually just a waste of time.
