Nonsurgical Cosmetic Hair Removal

By | Mar 8, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

Not all cosmetic enhancement procedures involve plastic surgery and one of the most popular non-surgical treatments is advanced hair removal. When it comes to permanent hair removal there are two techniques that can free a person from worrying about shaving, waxing, or plucking the treated area for a long time.

The method involves using electrical pulses to target the root of the hair. During the procedure a small needle is inserted in the skin to the root of the hair. The needle will then carry an electrical pulse to damage and prevent the hair from growing again. This is not a procedure for anyone who has a problem with needles.

Electrolysis is not a particularly cheap procedure and the total cost of the procedure depends on the area of treatment. Thicker and tougher hairs will require more from the doctor performing the treatment because it can be harder to treat those hairs. The area of the body usually determines the type of hair so doctors will quote estimates based on the desired area of the body to be treated. It normally will require multiple sessions and on average is approximately $100 to $300 per session. Some physicians will offers lowered prices for those who receive other treatments. For male patients this is an opportunity to save on the cost of gynecomastia as well as hair removal.

A much gentler alternative to electrolysis is laser hair removal which targets the hair follicle with laser lights rather than electrical pulses. The laser generates heat which damages the root of the hair to prevent the hair from growing. The ideal candidate for this procedure has light skin and dark hair.

For many people, the lasting effects of laser hair removal make it well worth the costs involved and can prove much more cost-effective compared to the average cost of plastic surgery. Remember that while there is no solution that offers absolute permanent hair removal, the laser technique offers patients many years of hair-free worry with a touch up session approximately every other year. The typical cost for this procedure can be as much as $2,500 but that is the same money some people spend on two years' worth of shaving product.

With the advancement in technologies available, hair removal techniques have also evolved to a whole new level. Laser hair removal and electrolysis offer patients a solution to hair removal that nears permanence.
