On October 27th 2012, Noosa will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of the world famous Noosa triathlon. The event was first held in 1982, when Noosa was a small beach town that thrived off the fish stock in the local rivers and beach. The event starts in Noosa heads and ventures out into the Noosa Hinterland of Cooroy.

The event consists of a run around the beautiful Noosa headland, a swim from one side of the protected beaches of Noosa to the other and a bike ride, from Noosa heads though the windy roads and up Tinbeerwah hill to Cooroy. Overall the event takes around 1 hour and 47 minutes for the elite athletes and between 4 to 5 hours for the novice athletes.

While in Noosa many visitors try the local restaurants and resorts. The town has a fantastic range of food to offer. From the burger bar to the world-famous Bistro C, on the boardwalk on Noosa's main beach. This restaurant has won many awards and is rated as the number one restaurant on the Sunshine Coast by Urban Spoon. Much of the produce used by the cafes and restaurants is sourced locally, as the Noosa hinterland has a rich agricultural background. From dairy cows to fresh fruit and vegetables, the Noosa hinterland has the right produce to make every meal on your holiday memorable.

When visiting Noosa for the triathlon, you may wish to get away into the Hinterland of Noosa. Montville is known all around Australia, as one of the first towns settled by the Dutch in the early 1800s. The Dutch atmosphere is still very much part of the town and is truly what makes this hidden gem such a fantastic place to take the family and have a day out. From handmade candy stores to arts and crafts stores, Montville will make your day out-of-town one to remember.

So in October 2012, bring your friends and bring your family to the Noosa Triathlon. The region is pact with fun and entertainment for the whole weekend that the festival is on. After the race, Noosa will be celebrating 30 years of fun and endurance, with Hastings Street in Noosa hosting the party. There is no place in Australia like Noosa and no event like the Noosa Triathlon. Visit the silk white sand, crystal blue water and have a weekend that you will never forget.
