Should I Buy a Norelco QT4050 or QT4070?

If so, you have come to the right comparison account -- QT4050 Vs QT4070 -- where we will look to carry out a break down anaylsis, feature-by-feature, so you can clearly see what each can offer you and from this which one is best suited to your beard grooming & trimming needs.
Beard Trimmer Operation
QT4050: Uniform Trim | Length Settings: 18 |
QT4070: Uniform Trim | Length Settings: 19 |
The most important aspect of any hair trimmer is that it offers a precision & even cut -- and both models are more than capable of carrying out such a task. There is a slight differences in the length setting range -- the QT4050 (aka. Vacuum Beard & Stubble Plus) offers 18 length settings that range from 1 mm to 18 mm (with 1 mm increments, obviously) whereas the QT4070 (aka. Vacuum Beard, Mustache & Stubble Pro) offers this in addition to a 0.5 mm apparently a "5 o'clock shadow look" that can be chosen on the stubble settings.
All this is carried out through a lock wheel based (precision Zoom Lock) on the hair trimmer to select the length you desire (visible on the LED display) and then through the 'adjustable comb' that follows the natural curvature (contours) of your face, allowing for a smooth and effective even cut. So in this regard, basically the QT4070 gains a slight edge as it can operate from 0.5 mm to 18mm.

Features, Attachments & Performance
QT4050: Vacuum | Stay Sharp Blades | Comb: Contour Following
QT4070: Vacuum | Stay Sharp Blades | Turbo | Comb: Stubble
What makes these Norelco vacuum beard trimmers particularly unique in comparison to most facial hair trimmers -- is the fact that they actually have a 'vacuum' -- this allows for a 'mess-free' trimming operation as it captures all the facial hair you cut into a compartment based in the actual shaver (ready for a quick easy release, afterwards) and not all over the bathroom sink.
The QT4070 also comes with a 'turbo' system that basically increases the 'cutting' and 'fan' speed to allow for a faster & more powerful cut, particularly useful for the longer and thicker stubble and facial hair.

QT4050: 50 mins Run Time -- Charge: 8 Hours | Battery Gauge
QT4070: 50 mins Run Time -- Charge: 1 Hour | Battery Gauge
Recently, they have been updated with 'longer lasting' batteries and can now last up to almost an hour (although they do differ rather radically on how quickly it takes them to charge i.e the QT4050 takes 7 hours more than the QT4070) making them pretty ideal for those who travel a lot (& also coming with a travel lock). There is also an LED battery indicator letting you know the condition of the lithium-ion battery and whether it needs charging soon.
Both models are backed on a two year coverage warranty that ensures if any defects occur (from the date of purchase) -- you are covered in terms of costs for labour and parts.

Conclusion -- Which will you get the Norelco QT4050 or QT4070?
In all, both models are quite similar and will do a great job of grooming and keeping your facial hair in good shape (particularly stubble) and have the added benfit of being pretty much maintenance free -- but as you have seen there are some subtle differences between the two, but just to recap: i) you are offered a slightly greater 'cutting' length range with the QT4070 (fitted with a unique 'stubble comb' attachment ), ii) the turbo mode and a quicker charge time.
All these extras with the 'pro' version in comparison to the 'plus' does make it a bit more expensive and its up to you decide if it is worth it, depending on your grooming preferences etc. But for me, for just an extra $10 -- I think those three factors make it more than worth going for the QT4070 model over the QT4050.
But which will you get the Norelco QT4050 (plus) or QT4070 (pro)?
