What's So Special About This Juicer?

I don't know if you know this, but Omega already has a line up of great masticating juicers.  They are very popular and very good at what they are designed to do.

So, the questions is, why make another masticating juicer?

It seems like Omega has been listening to their customers.  As good as the Omega 8000 series juicers have been, for some people they want more.  Let me explain.

Juicers falls in two general categories...fast centrifugal juicers, or slow masticating or twin gear juicers.  They both have their strenghts and weaknesses.

Centrifugal juicers are very fast.  There is much less prep time needed.  And the size of the feed tubes (newer models) are very big, that means you can fit in whole apples without doing any cutting.  They are very good with hard vegetables and fruits.  But the downside is...they are not very good at leafy greens, and they are useless against wheatgrass.

Masticating juicers, like the Omega 8004, are very good at leafy greens and wheatgrass.  The downside, is it's slow, and takes a lot of prep work.  The feed tube is small, so you have to cut everything down to small pieces.  That takes a lot of time.  Also, it's not so great with soft fruits.

Unless you get both style of juicers, you can only pick one or the other.

Then came the Omega VRT350hd juicer.  Has it succeeded in combining the best features of the two styles?  We will find out.

What Is The Benefit Of The VRT350HD?

Convenience:  One of the reason this juicer is so popular, is because it makes juicing easier and faster.  The bigger feed tube and the vertical design really cuts down on the prepping time.  You don't have to do as much cutting, and you can just drop the pieces into the juicer.  There is no need to push with a food pusher.

That means, you can actually juice while you cut.  Saves you tons of time.

Versatile:  Centrifugal juicers are great with fruits, masticating juicers are great with leafy greens.  Wouldn't it be great if you can combine the two?  Seems like that's what Omega has done with the VRT350HD.  They claim this juicer is just as efficent at leafy greens and wheatgrass as traditional juicers, yet, does fruits better than traditional masticating juicers.  It's like having two juicers in one.

High Quality Juice:  Here is why you shouldn't buy juice from stores.  They are produced very fast, and they are cooked.  What you DON'T want in fresh juice is air and heat.  Experts claim heat and oxidation destorys the live nutrients in juice.  The great thing about the Omega VRT350HD juicer is it eliminates both problems.

First, it only spins at 80 RPM (compare to centrifugal juicer which can go up to 19,000 RPM).  That means there is no heat from friction.  Also, there is no mixing of air and juice, because at 80 RPM, it's hard to stir up air.

What you end up is juice at it's purest form.  There is a reason why juice from slow juicers, like this one, can be stored up to 72 hours, while juice from centrifugal juicers separates within minutes.

Omega VERT 350HD Juicer Details

Strong Motor:
Even though this juicer doesn't operate at high speed, it's still good to have a strong motor.  At 2 horse power, it's super powerful, and it will last longer.  Saving you money in the long run.

8x Stronger Screen:  The new filter screen is made out of this new material called GE Ultem.  It's 8 times stronger than before.  There is a lot of pressure on the screen, so that means this one has less of a chance to crack.

AWS aka Automatic Wiping System:  This features cleans the filter screen while you juice.  The filter separates the pulp from the juice, so if it's clogged with pulp, it won't let the juice to pass through.  It also makes cleaning after easier, since the nylog brush already cleaned off most of the pulp.

Smaller Footprint:
This juicer takes up about as much space as a smaller centrifugal juicer.  Because it's vertical, it will leave you with more counter space.  It's great for a crowded or small kitchen.

Low Noise Level:
Quite a few people are turned off by how loud centrifugal juicers are.  They are quite loud because they turn at tens of thousands of RPM.  This juicer only turns at 80 RPM, that means, you won't wake up the whole neighborhood when you juice.

What Kind Of Warranty?

I'm glad you asked.  Because I would like to clear something up regarding warranties.

It's not until I started the research on the Omega Vert juicer that I found out not all warranties are equal.  There are other brands that offer what seems to be a 10 year warranty.  That's until you look a little deeper and realize not everything is covered for 10 years.  Some companies only cover the motor for 10 years...if anything else breaks, you are on your own.

What I really like about the warranty on the 350HD juicer, is it's 10 full years on EVERYTHING.  That means if some small part on the juicer breaks, you are covered.

With other juicers, you might have to pay out of pocket.

Reaction From Customers

I know they are very short reviews, but I just want you to get an idea the general feelings people have towards this vertical juicer.

Omega 350 Juicer Cons

I want you to know both the good and the bad about this juicer.  There are a lot of things this juicer does extremely, and there are couple of things I should mention.

One thing I hear about is it clogs once a while.  After the redesign, the VRT350HD doesn't clog as often, but there is one tip that will prevent that from happening even further.

With vegetables with a lot of stringy fibers, like celery, or the stems of leafy greens, you want to cut them into short pieces.  About one to two inches in lengh should be enough.

The second thing is the pulp in juice.  Some people have said it's pulpier than other masticating juicers.  I wouldn't necessary call it a con, and more of a preference.  Believe it or not, some people actually love pulpy juice.  If you want less pulp in your juice, there is a very easy and cheap fix.  Just use a

strainer.  It only costs a couple of dollars, in fact, most of you alread have a strainer in your kitchen.  Now if you want a PULP FREE juice, strain it through a few sheets of cheese cloths.  It works wonders.

There you go.  A couple of issues that can be easily fixed.  Doesn't really sound that bad at all.

Make sure you read the section below.  You will find out where to save the most money on this juicer.

Omega VRT350HD Best Price

Most likely, you will find the price to range from around $380 to over $400. With the retail price being $430, that's quite a savings.

There is also a way to save even more money. By getting the certified refurbished unit. The certified refurbished Omega VRT350 HD is inspected, repaired, and shipped just like a brand new juicer would. It even comes with all the accessories a brand new one has.

The best part, is the warranty. You will get a 7 year warranty! That's a pretty amazing deal.  The place where I've found to have the best deal on new and used models is Amazon. You will find that they go in and out of stock. That is because they are both super popular, and sometimes they are sold out. Just a heads up.
