On the Fad Juice Diet and Alternative Diets that Work Better

By Edited Aug 30, 2015 0 0

Fad diets are threatening to lower people’s general wellbeing the world over because of their very nature. Weight loss is a gradual process and diets that work best operate in a different manner than the more popular, temporary diets.

How To Identify Fad Diets

There are many obese people who are so obsessed with losing weight in a quick and easy way that they hardly have time to consider whether or not such ‘lose weight in 10 days’ adverts are promoting programs that are actually possible. Fortunately, recognizing a fad diet is actually as easy as recognizing unrealistic claims. For example, any weight loss program that promises the quick loss of weight while allowing users to splurge of their favorite sugar infested foods is obviously false and holds no water.

Additionally, these programs normally advocate for the consumption of single groups of foods, juices or fruit, for example the intake of low fat or liquid diet weight loss which restricts the dieter to drinking a particular juice diet like the lemonade cleanse diet. This will clearly lead to malnourishment where your body is derived of essential macronutrients like proteins, fats, and micronutrients like vitamins and minerals. Any worthwhile dieting plan is meant to usher into your life a program of balanced food consumption.

Another highlighted attribute of these dieting plans is that they are somewhat meaningless and are not backed with traceable scientific research supported by reputable researchers in the field of weight loss. This is why it is important to see a qualified dietician before trying out any plan; the negative effects will be disastrous. In addition to this, fad diets are normally painfully monotonous. If the plan is horrible and lacks any eating pleasure whatsoever, even after adaptation, it will in most cases lead to failure to adhere to the plan. People have been known to eat less healthily after a temporary "cleanse" type diet than they ate before starting, a situation that erodes any weight loss achieved over the course of the plan. Further troubling is that most of them hardly recommend physical activity.

Why Fad Diets Are Ineffective

One thing is certain: the loss of weight is guaranteed but the effects will not last for long. Most of these dieting plans reduce your intake of the essential nutrients, such as proteins, fats, and trace minerals, all of which contribute to a healthy digestive and immune system.

The Healthier Alternative

Despite the appearance that only extreme diets would work to induce weight loss, there are healthy diets, such as the "Paleo" diet that do the same in a more sustainable way. The Paleo diet seeks to make a return to prehistoric eating patterns that restricts the intake of processed sugars, refined oils, grains, and dairy products, as these foods lead to weight gain. These foods, along with legumes and potatoes, were seldom eaten because of their toxicity when raw. Although it is not necessary to consume food raw, the recommended foods are: fruits, fish, vegetables, lean meats, eggs, nuts, and seeds. These foods are recommended as humans during the Paleolithic age were healthy, fit, and free of modern disease.
