Online Adjunct Instructor Positions are Fabulous

By | 3 Comments | Rating: 1 | |
The current state of the economy is such that there are many individuals with earned graduate degrees who simply are unable to land a full-time position. There is a viable alternative, however, to this lack of full-time positions, and that alternative is multiple online adjunct instructor positions. Distance education technology has matured to the point where it is very cost-effective for a post secondary educational institution to offer the vast majority of its new and returning college students the opportunity to earn an online bachelor's degree or online master's degree by taking online college courses from their personal computers.

Of course, every online college class needs an instructor, and for the most part those instructors are teaching as online adjuncts. An online adjunct instructor is someone with the necessary academic qualifications and the required technical ability needed to satisfy the accreditation standards every community college, state college and university and for private institution of higher learning must meet in order to offer their students federal financial aid. As the popularity of taking online college courses to earn, for example, an online psychology degree or an online MBA degree grows in popularity there is a corresponding growth in the need for qualified online adjunct teachers.

Teach for Multiple Online Degree Programs

Teaching online for multiple online programs can be a genuine career opportunity for college instructors who are currently teaching in a traditional academic setting. For example, an adjunct with sharp time management skills can teach two or more online classes for one individual online degree program. Since there are many academic programs that offer university degrees online, and there are more of them every day, it is possible to simultaneously teach several online college courses for several academic institutions that offer online bachelor's degrees. Additionally, it is possible to teach for programs that allow students to earn master's degrees online as well as online doctorate degrees.

The career path for online teaching is scalable, which means that an online instructor can easily add classes to his or her teaching schedule and still accomplish the necessary work from one location and one computer. This scalability is a tremendous innovation for college instructors who in the past were limited in the number of schools they could teach for any one time by the literal geographic distance between schools. Simply put, it is no longer necessary to be in a specific geographic location to teach for multiple schools.

Freedom with Online College Classes

One of the distinct advantages to teaching online is that the instructor is not required to spend any of the online adjunct income on personal transportation from campus to campus. In the past, in order to teach at multiple college campuses the adjunct instructor very often needed a personal vehicle. Frequently, the cost of operating a personal vehicle consumed a good portion of the money earned from teaching college students. Today, however, online college courses for online bachelor degree programs can be taught without once without once having to drive to a campus. An inexpensive laptop that is able to connect to the Internet can serve as a personal vehicle and an academic office for those who teach online. In that sense, it is easy to see that not having to spend valuable adjunct income on a motor vehicle can produce an additional income stream realized by not spending cash to operate and maintain a car or truck.

This freedom from specific location that arises from teaching students who are earning one or more online degrees can also be applied to the issue of travel. In this sense, travel means the ability to simply pick out and go to almost any place, provided Internet access is available, and continue to earn online adjunct income. A person with multiple online adjunct jobs can literally decide to take off for the beaches of Mexico, the cafés of Paris and the deserts of Egypt, and know that the online teaching and the income it provides will not be disturbed in any way. The combined elements of scalability, lack of need for personal vehicle and the freedom to travel to exotic locales makes online adjunct instructor positions fabulous.

Distance learning is great, but you should also consider attending college to help build your character. I decided to go to a Christian college and it was the best decision I ever made. I would check out http://www.liberty.edu.
