Outdoor Rugs for your Patio, Deck or Porch
It's Sunday and the sun is shinning and a picnic or barbeque is in the air. The patio furniture is set on the lawn or deck and the coals are heating under the grill, but something's missing. Could it be that your toes are cold or the grass is damp or the deck could be just a little more cozy if there were a carpet for the kids to sit on? And what about a small area rug beside the garden or near the pool or just under your lounge chair? It's the little things that make an outdoor experience great, the lighting, the smells, the breeze, the overhead canopy or sun shade, or the wool area rug you never thought of bringing outdoors. But what happens when it rains? You rush to bring everything in and then wonder how you'll ever get the wool rug dry gain.
Natural Rug Fibers or Synthetic
There is a solution to having a great outdoor area rug without all the worry, and without bringing it in and out every time you wish it were underfoot. For very little money, you can buy some fabulous large or small area rugs that are specifically designed for outdoor use. Outdoor rugs will be different than their indoor cousins because they will have been treated with a weatherproofing product or will be made of water-resistant materials that can take much more abuse than regular indoor area rugs. The outdoor rug designs may be natural fibers or synthetic but will withstand the elements and moisture better than risking your favorite rugs becoming discolored in the sun or rain.
Patio or Beach Rug
Some outdoor rug styles are really soft with rich textured fibers and pile, others are flat weave cotton or natural bamboo or teak that can be wiped down. For as little as $50 you can have a wonderful carpet on your porch or deck or resting under your feet in the garden. There are also multipurpose rugs like the indoor outdoor rugs that may also work wonders as a kitchen rug or as a beach carpet. Yeswe always take mats to the sea, it's time to move it up a notch and start taking area rugs that are comfy and soft and plush to lay on at the seaside. I keep one in the boot (or trunk) of my car - a medium sized area rug that always has a little sand in it.
