10 Essential T-Shirts for Gilmore Girls Fans
If you love the Gilmore Girls or know someone who does, you need to have these t-shirts. All of these are fan designed and are available from Cafe Press.
Check out this t-shirt which is probably the most commonly repeated Gilmore-ism in the book. The saying comes from the episode titled: I Can't Get Started. This quote comes from the beginning of the episode which also includes Sookie's wedding and Christopher finding out Sherry is pregnant, just as he and Lorelai were finally going to get it together. This shirt is 100% cotton and is pre-shrunk.
- Season 2, Episode 22
- Cost: $29
Lorelai uses this as a dinner conversation topic at Friday night dinner in Tick, Tick, Tick, Boom! The ticking bomb in this instance is the smell of the Easter eggs Kirk hid going bad as not all of them were found. Or it could be referring to the bombshell Jason's (aka Digger) parents drop on Emily and Richard that the kids are dating. The shirt is 100% combed ring-spun cotton.
- Season 4, Episode 18
- Cost: $20
The Lorelai's First Day at Yale starts with the girls getting ready for the move to Yale. As they get there and Lorelai sees all the good stuff all the other parents got their kids, she goes into a frenzy and in a hurry to get organised, she says "Copper Boom!" Of course, as Rory points out there was a lot of stuff that was in between. This raglan is 100% superfine combed cotton baby rib.
- Season 4, Episode 2
- Cost: $24
When Dean kisses Rory in the "good" aisle of Taylor's shop, Rory accidentally steals a box of corn starch in Kiss and Tell. Surprisingly, she keeps it as sort of shrine to the event, but first runs over to Lane who tells Mrs. Kim that Rory was kissed by the Lord when she overhears the conversation. This shirt is 100% combed ring-spun cotton.
- Season 1, Episode 7
- Cost: $20
It's just a small scene in the middle of the episode Swan Song in which Mrs. Kim chats with Lane's secret boyfriend Dave while he is in the car with the rest of their band. In the same episode, Jess is attacked by a swan on the day he shows up late for the Gilmore Friday night dinner, making Rory think he got into a fight with Dean. The pyjamas are shown here, although you can always get just the t-shirt if you prefer. Both top and bottom are made of 100% cotton.
- Season 3, Episode 14
- Cost: $39.50
This is one of Taylor's best lines. He says it at the town meeting in the episode Love and War and Snow which sees Lorelai's first date with Max while Rory is snowbound in Hartford at her grandparents. It is also the first time that Lane is upset with Rory, which inadvertently ruins Lorelai's date, mainly because Rory wasn't there to listen to her embarrassing hair touching story. This fitted t-shirt is 100% ultra-fine combed organic ring-spun jersey.
- Season 1, Episode 8
- Cost: $26
Okay, if you need to have the real line from the show it is, "If Kirk wants to sit in a box, let him sit in a box." It's Miss Patty that says it, although this really is about Kirk sitting in a perspex box suspended over Luke's Diner. He says the rules about talking while in the box are a bit fuzzy in this the next to the last episode, entitled Unto the Breach. It is actually a side story, this episode is mostly about Rory's graduation from Yale and Logan's proposal. This long sleeve shirt is 100% soft combed ring spun cotton and it is pre-shrunk.
- Season 7, Episode 21
- Cost: $32.50
Lorelai has serious pie issues in Season 1. They come out in force when Max asks her out. Her logic for saying no is, well that she doesn't want to date pie. But as much as the episode Cinnamon's Wake is about her and Max getting together, it is also about a wake for Babette's cat Cinnamon. It is also when Rory finds out that Dean likes her. This v-neck short sleeve shirt is pre-shrunk and made of 100% cotton
- Season 1, Episode 5
- Cost: $24
Lorelai says this after she has instructed Rory to put sugar on her toes when she first meets their new dog, Paul Anka. It is actually a tiny scene in The Perfect Dress which sees Lorelai putting together her wedding with Luke in all of one day. And Logan is busy trying to win Rory back after well, being Logan. It sends Rory into a near breakdown, but she gets over it. The shirt is lightweight 100% pre-shrunk cotton (and available in other colors).
- Season 6, Episode 11
- Cost: $22
Possibly the first classic line from the Gilmore Girls. Rory is trying to get out of going to Chilton when Lorelai realises it's because of Dean. She yells this across the house as Rory goes to her room to avoid the conversation in the episode so blandly known as Pilot. Fortunately the show titles got better from there on out (along with Kirk's character development). Shown here as a wife beater, ahem, tank top, just to go with the theme. But there are plenty to choose from.
- Season 1, Episode 1
- Cost: $22
