PA Hunting License

By | Jun 21, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

Hunting is a great way to enjoy the outdoors and to get some excercise. It is also a way to supplement the food budget assuming you don't spend too much on hunting gear. Some people even solely eat meat that they harvested while hunting. The meat harvested this way is also going to be about as natural as you can get. Hunting can also be a nice family expierence, it does not need to be reserved just for fathers and sons, many women also enjoy hunting.

A PA hunting license is available from the the PA Game Commission's Pennsylvania - Outdoor Shop website. The site also offers furtaker license, fishing license, boat launch permits and more. Some of the license and permits can be printed directly from the website whereas others need to be mailed to the user. A list if the licensee fees is available from the PA Game Commission Site. A PA resident adult (age 17-65 years) costs $20.70 in 2010 & 2011 and a non PA resident can get a PA hunting license for $101.70.

The PA Hunting Season and Bag Limit page contains all the information about when the season is open and how many animals can be taken. Pennsylvania is well known in hunting for it's white tail deer, only one antlered white tail deer may be taken per year and one antlerless deer for each required antlerless license. Small game season has larger bag limits than white tail deer hunting season.

Pennsylvania offers millions of acres of land to hunt, including state game lands. If hunting on private property be sure to secure permission before hunting. In the 2009 - 2010 hunting season over 300,000 total deer were harvested in PA.

A PA hunting license is also required for hunting small game like pheasent, rabbit, etc. Some animals considered pests, like ground hogs, have no 'open season' and can be hunted almost year round, but a PA hunting license is still required.
