PDC World Championship Darts Stats And Facts

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

The Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) was formed in 1994 bringing some of the biggest players away from the long standing British Darts Corporation (BDO).That year saw the first PDC world championship, held in Circus Tavern. The main aim of the PDC was to make Darts a worldwide professional sport.More viewers bringing in more sponsors and higher prize money was promised. The PDC also wanted to get rid of the perception of darts as a Pub Game played by overweight heavy drinkers.

The success of the PDC World Championship and other tournaments like the Premier League often played in arenas holding over 5000 spectators has seen many of the PDC's goals achieved. The emergence of Phil Taylor commonly known as the best dart player ever has also helped build the profile of darts.

These are the winners and runners up of the 17 PDC World Championships. Also quoted are the 3 dart averages of the finalists along with venue and prize money.
