Comparison Review: ES8103S or ES8243A

Debating as to which Panasonic shaver -- ES8103S or ES8243A -- is best for you (and the general differences between them)? This brief & objective comparison guide will be able to help you out -- through performing a breakdown specification analysis -- where we can quickly identify what aspects are different along with what aspects are similar between the two shavers. You will then, from this, be able to easily see which shaver is best suited your shaving needs & preferences (along with consideration of their respective price tags).

Fitted Technology

ES8103S: 3 Blades | Linear Motor - 13,000 rpm | Flexi Pivot Head

ES8243A: 4 Blades | Linear Motor -13,000 rpm | Flexi Pivot Head

Although the 3 blade cutting system that comes with the ES8103S provides a great close cut, the fourth finishing blade with the ES8243A provides that extra assurance and opportunity to capture every single hair (in all making for an even more efficient shave). You are of course also expanding the cutting pressure with an extra bade, hence you should find it to be less of an irritant on the skin than the 3 bladed model. Both shavers are powered by a 13,000 rpm linear motor which relative to other competing shavers is pretty fast given they are as low as 8,000 rpm (in many cases) -- this in turn means it can cut through thick beard hair easily, but more importantly the process of tugging & pulling the hairs is so quick it is barely felt (minimizing discomfort & irritation) -- compared with the slower shavers.

The shaver head is also able to pivot (25 degrees back & forth, 20 degrees right to left) and adapt in-line with your unique facial contours in order to produce a more optimized shave -- essentially making it more comfortable and easier to shave those 'hard to reach facial areas' (e.g. under the chin).

Shaving Performance & Features

ES8103S: 30 Degree Nanotech Blades | Hypoallergenic foil | Arc & Slit foil | Trimmer

ES8243A: 30 Degree Nanotech blades | Hypoallergenic foil | Arc & Slit foil | Trimmer

The blades operate on a natural curvature of 30 degrees and have been implemented with nanotechnology these two factors ensure a fantastic close-cutting shave (being constantly ultra-sharp and being able to nestle into your skin) -- providing a precise & even cut (through adapting to cut long hairs & even the shortest stubble). They have also implemented stainless steel hypoallergenic foil -- which acts to naturally counteract inflammation & heating caused from shaving (particularly useful for those with sensitive skin). Moreover, they come with a slit foil (for cutting long beards) & pop-up trimmer (for detailing facial hair -- beards, mustaches etc.).

Conclusion: Should You Buy the ES8103S or ES8243A?

As you can see both shavers are very similar to one another -- the only real notable differences are the fact the ES8243A is blue and comes with 4 shaving blades as opposed to the ES8103S that is a white/cream and comes with 3 blades (along with the former being the more expensive model by around $50). It is basically a question of whether you are willing to pay an extra 50 odd bucks for a better shaving performance from your shaver. For me, it certainly is (i.e I would go for the ES8234A) -- given the fact I use my electric shaver pretty much everyday and can't really grit an unpleasant experience every morning before going to work (it would just put me in a bad mood).

Or You Can Think About Upgrading?

But do let me know which shaver you opt for and why?
