Have you ever gone grocery shopping and thought to yourself 'I really wish that I had more cabinet space to store my food'? If you have, then allow me to introduce you to pantry cabinets, the greatest way to maximize your storage capacity. These cabinets have been used all over the world for many years and have multiple purposes, although perhaps the most common purpose served by them is to store food.

In today's day and age these cabinets are one of the most often requested additions to many homes because of their multi purpose uses. Not only do they maximize your space available in your home, but they can come in the form of a portable, self assembled form, or they can be built into a home in the form of a large storage closet. These storage closets featured in most of today's homes are generally located in or near the kitchen of a home.

Built in pantries most often resemble a rather large walk in closet. However, unlike a typical clothing closet, these pantry cabinets have shelves which are built in to it. These shelves serve the purpose of organizing and storing foods, much like a book shelf serves the purpose of storing books.

Dating back to documented medieval times, these cabinets have been used for everything from storing food and wine, to even storing ammunition for weaponry. It was in these times that the person who was in charge of and responsible for taking care of, guarding, and stocking these store rooms, was known as a pantler. This person was usually the head of staff for the home or organization of which the pantry belonged to.

Utility rooms in England are also known as a butler's pantry. What sets these storage rooms apart from others is that these rooms generally contain counters, tables and even sinks. These types of pantries are sometimes used for purposes of there then storing food, despite their location in a home. These rooms were most commonly used for not only a store room but also a room in which the owner can count and clean their silver.

In Asia, pantries are cabinets that are built and placed inside the homes. The homes in which these are built for are usually large and open, especially in the kitchen area. This means that these homes often do not have cabinets built into them, meaning there is usually little to no areas available in which someone could store their food.

Despite how these storage rooms or cabinets are utilized, or how big of a home someone has, there will always be a useful way to use pantry cabinet space. Some people use them in their childrens rooms or even in their hallways in order to store board games, books, or even playing cards. There are even some people who use them in their bathroom areas to store their bath towels and wash cloths.

With so many versatile uses, it is no wonder why these storage units have been around for so long. As time passes, these cabinets seem to evolve in the ways in which one could use them. Seen anywhere ranging from departments stores to doctors offices, these are one creating that is guaranteed to be around for a very long time.
