Part Time Freelance Writing: Tips Not to Suffer Burnout

By Edited Mar 24, 2016 1 3

There are many people online that have entered the freelance writing world as a part time job or career. These people use their spare time at night and in the morning to write and make money online. This is a very good strategy to use whether you are looking to build freelance writing into a full time career or if you just want to supplement the income that you already have. There is just one major problem that many in the freelance writing world do not talk about and that is suffering from burnout and how to avoid it.
-
It can actually be quite easy to suffer burnout when you are doing part time freelance writing. You already put in at least 40 hours in your full time job and are now using time that would be spent relaxing to make money online. There are demanding clients that can expect more then you are willing to give this part time endeavor. Reasons for burnout when you are part time freelance writing can start to add up fast. That is why it is important to use these tips to prevent burnout before it starts.
-
Tip One
-
Never take on more part time freelance writing work then you can comfortably handle. If you push yourself against the wall with deadlines and more work then you can complete in the time that you have available, it will not be long before you start to suffer from burnout.
-
Tip Two
-

Write for yourself as well as private clients. Odds are that the freelance writing assignments that you will get from private clients can be dull and boring. Think of 50 articles due on shoes and you will start to get a headache that will lead to burnout. By writing for yourself as well, you can write about things that you enjoy and mix up your writing time when you need to.
-
Tip Three
-
Give yourself the night off at least once a week. It will be tempting when you are part time freelance writing to work every night. The reason is that time is money when it comes to making money online. A night off could just be the recharge that your brain needs to get back to your part time freelance writing and stay away from burnout.
-
Tip Four
-
Use some of the money that you make part time freelance writing to buy yourself something fun. It can be tempting to use all of the money to pay the bills. However, if you do not treat yourself it is very easy to see this job as another burnout waiting to happen.

I have not tried writing for private clients. I prefer to write whatever I want.
