Percussion and Your Lymph System
Usually when we think of a percussor we think of that little hammer that the doctor whacks our knees with to test for reflexes when we go in for a check-up. Through the years, though, the percussor has made a huge leap from just detecting problems with our reflexes and nervous system's to actually treating and healing an array of disorders in the human body. The percussor can help with just about anything from muscle tension to restoring healthy blood flow. Let's examine how it can be used in the medical profession.
The percussion technique increases blood flow throughout your body as well as injured muscles and tendons. Increased blood flow means that your immune response is working faster, your body is getting the nourishment it needs and cells are able to regenerate at a quicker pace. Your lymph system especially benefits from the use of percussion and this is where you receive the most benefit.
Understanding your lymph system
Your lymph system is your biggest defense against disease and the destruction of foreign antigens such as viruses and bacteria. It sends white blood cells throughout your body to scout and destroy these foreign bodies before they become a noticeable problem to you. If your lymph system is obstructed in any way then your immune response is slowed down allowing for just enough time for these antigens to multiply and start causing problems. This is where percussion can help.
Percussion and lymph flow
Percussion can remove blockages in your lymph system by breaking up scar tissue, muscle tension and overall physical injury. When we are injured our body sends a message to the damaged tissue to contract and protect. Unfortunately, long after the injury has healed the tissue can hold on to that memory. Percussion is able to break up the damage and restore healthy blood and lymph flow so that our bodies can continue to get the nourishment they need. Percussion can also stimulate lymph drainage which is necessary for a healthy immune system unlike the liposuction laser. Lymph drainage can release swelling of an injury and restore harmony throughout your body.
