Phobia Treatment Using VCDT

By Edited Oct 8, 2016 1 1

VCDT (Visual Coding Displacement Therapy) is an innovative new treatment for phobias and other mental roadblocks such as panic disorder and food addition. It works differently from other phobia treatments in that you may be cured in just a matter of hours. Read on for more details.

WHAT IS A PHOBIA: PHOBIAS AND THEIR MEANINGS

As babies we are born with only two fears: the fear of falling and the fear of loud noises. That's why a baby puts out his/her hands when they fall down and also why they cry when they hear a loud object being dropped. As we grow we can become fearful of other things, and become IRRATIONALLY fearful too. A phobia might start as a rational fear but it can grow over time into something irrational that can cause distress and prevent us living the life we want to.

Some phobias are caused by a traumatic event early in life. For example, you might have had a near-drowning experience as a child and since then developed a fear of swimming or water (aquaphobia), or you were startled by a big spider (arachnophobia). But that's not necessarily the case. Sometimes phobias develop as products of your imagination. You might have watched a scary movie which featured a crazy clown (coulrophobia or clown phobia = fear of clowns or people with painted faces) or read a magazine article about a swarm of angry bees (apiphobia = fear of bees). Phobias may take on any subject ~ from fear of asymmetrical patterns or objects (asymmetriphobia) to a fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of one's mouth (arachibutyrophobia).

ANXIETY AND PHOBIAS

When we're phobic, our mind goes into overdrive in an effort to protect ourselves. We're on high alert, constantly on the lookout for potential danger. This may increase to extra-ordinary proportions so that we cannot sleep, we suffer from panic and anxiety attacks and may not be able to live a 'normal life', affecting relationships, career prospects and quality of life.

TRADITIONAL TECHNIQUES TO TREAT PHOBIAS

Traditional techniques to cure phobias may take months, if not years of therapy and may involve shock tactics such as exposure to the subject that is causing fear.

VISUAL CODING DISPLACEMENT THERAPY OR VCDT BY NIK & EVA SPEAKMAN

VCDT is a new technique created by the British life coaches and therapy couple, Nik and Eva Speakman. The Speakmans are famous in England for their reality TV show "A Life Less Ordinary" which shows them working with celebrities and normal people alike to cure their phobias, panic disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, depression and other mental roadblocks. Coronation Street Actress and former popstar, Kym Marsh, credits the Speakmans for helping her overcome her fear of driving on highways. They have worked with fears of blood, foil, rubber and even seeing a urinal. Their TV show featured a DeLorean as featured in the movie Back To The Future which they used to represent their client going back in time to look at the time when their phobia first manifested itself. Nik and Eva Speakman are masters in NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and use that as a basis, plus their many years of experience, to develop VCDT which they say is more effective and quicker when working to cure phobias.

HOW FEARS AND PHOBIAS ARE STORED IN THE MIND

VCDT Practitioners suggest that we have programs running in our mind, in the same way a computer is running multiple programs. As we grow and learn, we develop new programs and store them on our desktop. When asked to access memories or emotions, we click on those icons on our desktop to access a particular memory, issue or emotion associated with a particular subject.

Our phobias area stored in this way too. A VCDT practitioner can help find where this program exists on your mental desktop and delete it so that it never comes up again. This does not involve a lot of soul searching about your childhood. You do not even have to know how or why the irrational fear developed in the first place though as the session progresses, you might find ourself recalling it.

FINDING A VCDT THERAPIST

A simple online search is the best first step in trying to find a certified VCDT therapist in your area. Ask them for their background, experience, testimonials and success stories. Ask too about cases which have failed and the reasons why. It's important that you feel a good rapport with your therapist. Many give phobia cures a money-back guarantee.

Phobias can be cured : don't procrastinate. Seek a phobia treatment now and get your freedom back from fear and anxiety.
