Places to Visit Before You Die

By Edited May 13, 2015 8 29

There are many places you should see before you die. Here is a list of some of the places you should see before you die. This list however is far from inclusive of everywhere you should visit before you die.

Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal in India may be one of the finest examples of beautiful architecture that has ever existed in the history of mankind. The Taj Mahal was completely built by around 1653. By looking at the Taj Mahal

Indias Taj Mahal
you would have no way of knowing the building was so old. The building definitely does not appear as a 357 year old building. The Taj Mahal is a must see for many people before they die.

Great Pyramid Of Giza

The Great Pyramid Of Giza is the largest of the pyramids built by the ancient Egyptians. How exactly the Egyptians built these pyramids is still hotly debated but all scholars agree that no one knows for sure how the ancient Egyptians were able to build these great pyramids.

This pyramid was the tallest man made structure in the world for over 3800 years. Even the Roman empire was never able to build anything that came close to the height of the Great Pyramid on Egypt.

The Great Wall Of China

The Great Wall Of China is one of China's most popular tourist destinations. The The Great Wall Of China is actually a series of walls and built during different time periods to keep help keep out the Mongols who were raiding and attacking China. Construction of The Great Wall Of China began in the 5th century BC.

Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu is commonly referred to as "The Lost City of the Incas". Machu Picchu is located about 8,000 feet above sea level. The Lost City Of The Incas was unknown to outsiders until 1911 even though construction of the city began about 1430.

Balanced Rock

There are a few balanced rocks in the world including one at Yosemite National Park. The Balanced Rock in Southern Idaho near Castleford Idaho is a classic example of something that looks as if it should topple over at any time. The base of the rock is very thin. The base is 3 feet x 17 inches and this small base supports over 40 tons of rock.

Las Vegas

If you have never experienced the Neon Lights of the Las Vegas Strip then Las Vegas is a definite must see before you die. The City pumps out Neon Lights like candy. You can also experience the various Las Vegas Hotels, Casinos, Museums, and other sights such as the Historic Fort built by the Mormons that was the origins of the great city of Las Vegas.

Hoover Dam

Hoover Dam is near Las Vegas and is one of the mo0st astounding man made dams you will ever see. According to the United States Bureau of Reclamation Hoover Dam contains "Three and one-quarter million cubic yards" of concrete.

Saint Basil's Cathedral

Moscow Russia is where you will find Saint Basil's Cathedral. Saint Basil's Cathedral is probably the most famous sight in Russia. Saint Basil's Cathedral was finished in 1560. Saint Basil's Cathedral is located in Red Square.

Northern Lights

Aurora Borealis, also commonly called the "Northern Lights" is a natural occurring light show. The Northern Lights can only be seen in the Northern Hemisphere. The further north you are and the closer you are to Magnetic North Pole then the more likely you are to see the Northern Lights. The Northern Lights are commonly seen in parts of Alaska and Canada.

Leaning Tower of Pisa

The Leaning Tower of Pisa was not designed to lean at an angle but poor construction of the foundation caused the bell tower to start leaning soon after it was constructed in 1173. If you can't travel to Italy to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa you can see another leaning tower that is designed to look similar to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. In Chicago the Leaning Tower of Niles was built. It is about half the size of the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Alaska

Alaska is a must see place to travel to before you die. Alaska is so huge and divers you need to spend a lot of time there. Beautiful places to see in Alaska include Kodiak Island, Ketchikan, North Pole as well as the most Northern most City in the United States, Barrow Alaska.

A great way to see some of Alaska's gorgeous scenery is by taking the "Glacier Discovery" train ride on the Alaskan Railroad.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

The country of the United Arab Emirates sprung out of a dry deserted desert. Today the capitol city of Dubai is a city on par with New York, Hong Kong , and other major cities. Dubai equals these cities for many reasons. The architecture and tall buildings, the financial centers, as well as tourism.

Dubai, which is located on the Persian Gulf, originally began as an oil town but Dubai has since expanded to many industries.

Dubai has many awesome architectural structures including the Burj Al Arab,Hotel as well as the second largest man made marina in the world.

Recently Dubai finished construction on the Burj Dubai tower. The Burj Dubai tower is the worlds tallest building. The worlds tallest tower has to be on anybodies list to see before they die.

The Burj Dubai tower is not only taller than all the other buildings in the world but it dwarfs them. The Burj Dubai tower is over 2,625 feet tall and has more than 160 stories. According to the Burj Dubai tower website the Burj Dubai tower holds many records such as:

  • Tallest building in the world
  • Tallest free-standing structure in the world
  • Highest number of stories in the world
  • Highest occupied floor in the world
  • Highest outdoor observation deck in the world
  • Elevator with the longest travel distance in the world
  • Tallest service elevator in the world
  • Height to architectural top
  • Highest occupied floor
  • Height to tip

The Amazing size of the Burj Dubai tower makes Dubai the number one place to see before you die.

The only place I've been on that list is Las Vegas, so if you haven't been there. I suggest you go soon, experts are saying Vegas will have no water supply in less than ten years.

I've heard great things about Victoria Falls, but unfortunately it's in Zimbabwe, which is a somewhat dangerous area. I'm not sure I'm THAT dedicated to the idea of seeing the waterfall.

I thought that the Taj Mahal was really beautiful and it especially stood out in contrast to the rest of Agra. Petra in Jordan is something to see as well.

I've only ever traveled to Thailand, but they have a bunch of beautifull temples and some of the most beautifull beaches in the world. Look up maya bay it was used in the movie "the beach" and it's pretty breath taking to be there in person. I've never seen water so blue, and i live next to a beach over here.

If you like ocean life and snorkeling and diving, I'd definitely say the Great Barrier Reef off the Northern coast of Australia. I recently published an article about it. Absolute diving paradise.

Thanks for your very morbid article, hahaha. The only place I would like to visit before I die is the St. Peter's Basilica in Rome because I am a Roman Catholic and the Vatican is the seat of Catholicism. But, really, your article is superb because I've gained so much information. Thanks and more power.

Gotta add the Oregon Columbia River Gorge to this list. Breath-taking. Very green, very much a nature lover's paradise. Born and raised there, don't live there now, and realized I took the beauty for granted. Haven't seen anything to compete as of yet.
