A Magnificent View of London's Finest

London Eye(63547)

London, apart from all its luscious vegetation, is famous for its monarchical history which we can observe in movies with royal families as main characters. One of the best experiences a tourist could get from London is a ride in the London Eye.

An Eye in the Sky

For most of you who think that the London Eye’s a big eye carving or a marble statue, London Eye actually is a Ferris wheel which is strategically located at the riverbanks of the Thames. The Eye stands 443 ft. or 135 meters above sea level.

London Eye View

The London Eye’s exact location is at the west end of the Jubilee Gardens, part of the River Thames south bank. The river is in a place between Hungerford Bridge and the Westminster. This particular site is also a nearby area to the formerly called Discovery Dome built for the Britain Festival of 1951.

England

From the site’s description, you can just imagine how good it would feel to set foot at such a paradise-like destination. England, in connection with its royal history, is also one of the most romantic places in the planet. The city provides a wide selection of different tourist spots that are proven to be very heart warming because of their medieval background and history.

Thrilling Adventure Trip

Inside London Eye

For adventure seeking travel enthusiasts, a ride in the London Eye would be a great thrill for a number of reasons. First, it is the tallest Ferris wheel in Europe. This is like achieving a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. Second, the London Eye also is the most popular paid tourist attraction in England; which means there are a lot of people who would want to be where you are at that particular moment. Third point, if you have an eye for photography or let’s say you highly appreciate picturesque views, being at the highest point of the London Eye gives you a wonderful view of the English capital.

The London Eye itself offers its own dramatic historical background which dates back in the year 1999 when Tony Blair, then Prime Minister announced its formal public introduction; although, the exact anniversary of the wheel is March 9, 2000. Records show that from the year 2000 to the year 2008, more than 30 million people have ridden the London Eye. Apart from its tourist popularity, the wheel has also been used as an annual celebration landmark by the English government. The rights to ownership of this destination have changed over the years, which is why its name has changed for a number of times.
