Plantation Window Shutters
Plantation window shutters, also known as louver shutters, offer a contemporary and attractive interior shutter solution, which is a popular substitute for traditional blinds or curtains. Plantation window shutters consist of larger panels and as a result, encompass a greater surface area of a window in comparison to other styles of shutters.
Plantation window shutters can be made from many different types of material however they will usually be made out of either wood or faux wood (material which looks like wood). Faux wood shutters tend to be less expensive in comparison to real wood shutters. Plantation window shutters do not warp in high temperatures or when exposed to humidity so they can be installed in any room whether the kitchen, the bathroom or the bedroom.
While blinds can prove difficult to clean, plantation window shutters could not be any easier to clean. Unlike curtains, they hold the added advantage of not harboring dust mites. Plantation window shutters require very little maintenance. They can be dusted in the same way as you would dust any household surface. To preserve the condition of shutters, it is recommended that they are washed annually with water, which is warm and soapy.
Shutters are advantageous as they are adjustable. The thin slats of wood inside a shutter's frame known as the louvers can be tilted, enabling the control of the amount of light that is let into the room while at the same time, enabling the privacy of the room to be maintained. Plantation window shutters are a cost effective solution as they not only enable the light entering the room to be controlled but they also prevent the furniture in a room from becoming discolored by sunlight. Shutters also prove highly insulating. Plantation window shutters provide added security as in many cases they deter the actions of thieves who will not be able to enter your home as easily.
You may be able to install your own plantation window shutters or you may prefer to allow a company to do this on your behalf. Window shutters can last a life time if they are properly cared for. In comparison to curtains, they will not lose their color or become out of fashion. With careful decision making, they will continue to complement your room, even if you change the room's décor in the future. Shutters are durable and do not tend to break easily but when they do become damaged, they are easily repaired. In addition, shutters may increase a property's value.
