Playing Smart at The Casino

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 1

Going to the casino can be a lot of fun, but it is important to know your limits and stop before you get too low.

One good rule of thumb is to only take so much cash.  If you have a set limit for yourself, only spend that amount.  It is smart to leave the rest of your cash either in the car or at home.  If the cash is in your wallet it is easy to say, “just ten more dollars”.  That extra ten dollars can turn into $50 and $100 very quickly.

Casinos are filled with ATM’s just calling out your name.  Leaving your debit cards at home is a good idea too so you don’t have to take any extra cash out.

If you want to make the most of your time at the casino, it is a good idea to play the low slot machines.  The penny and nickel machines are a good idea if you don’t play all of the lines at once.  Playing all of the lines on a penny machine and maxing out the plays could cost you up to $1 per spin.

Find bonus machines at the casino.  These slots have a separate screen up on top where you can play bonus games to win more money.  You can often win free spins that will generate more money.

If you are ahead at the casino your best bet is to walk away.  Many people go in to the casino with $50 and on their first spin they may win $200.  You are best off walking away with the $200.  You may be disappointed if you put your money back in and end up losing it all.

Take advantage of the free soda that casinos offer.  Instead of spending money on alcohol you can play it smart and drink free fountain soda.  This is a good option for them to get members to spend more time playing at the casino and it also benefits the members as well.

Sign up for the casino card when you visit the casino.  Most of them have special cards you can sign up for free and benefit from them.  Discounts at their restaurant or gas stations are very common.  You could also win prizes at the casino as well.  The more you play, the more points you can collect and the more you could win.  Casino labeled gear and gift cards are popular.

If you win at a machine, move on to another.  Once you hit a big winning jackpot the chances of it happening again right away are pretty slim.  Even if you move to a similar machine that plays the same way right next to the winning machine, your chances of winning are better off.

It is important to remember that when you are at a casino you are taking a risk with your money.  Don’t go into the casino thinking that you are going to make money.  Gambling can be very dangerous for some people as they do not know when to stop.
