Full Review

Playmobil have really excelled themselves with their Egyptian range of toys. The centrepiece is the awesome Playmobil Pyramid. It is a huge 21 inch square base and 14 inches high. It is a great playset full of movable pieces, trapdoors, hidden chambers and moveable walls. Included with it are 4 Egyptian figures and lots of accessories including lots of Pharohs treasure. The figures include a royal man and woman, a Pyramid guard and a robber. As always with Playmobil, it is well built and sturdy. It comes in a large box (kids love presents in large boxes) and did take about 45 minutes to assemble. The assembly was easy with very clear instructions.

My 5 year old daughter loves the Playmobil Pyramid. At first I was a bit cautious about buying it because it is a bit different from the normal houses and castles that Playmobil produce and was not sure if she would play with it. I am glad I was wrong. She has played with it almost everyday since she received it as a present, both on her own and with me. When I have played with her as well, the play has prompted lots of questions about ancient Egypt and other historical civilizations such as the Roman Empire as well.

One of the great things about Playmobil in general is that all the toys can be played with together and the Pyramid fits perfectly into my daughters games, it sits next to the small castle and the zoo that she had already. The imaginative play is wonderful to watch.

There are a number of other items in the Playmobil Egypt range including a Chariot, a Sphinx, a Royal Ship , a Pharohs Temple and a few small sets of figures. I am sure we will be adding some of these to the Playmobil collection in the future.

In Closing

I would strongly recommend and of the Playmobil range of toys but do suggest that you try something a bit different from the usual Fire Stations and Castles that they seem to reproduce every year. The Playmobil Pyramid will provide your child with not only a great toy playset but also a creative learning opportunity. In the summer, I have now got to plan a trip to the British Museum to see some real Egyptian Mummies and treasure.
