Politics and Religion

By Edited Nov 18, 2013 2 2

The separation of church and state. So many people use this line to banish God from everything. Well, did you know that the separation of church and state is not even in the Constitution of the United States of America?

Our Founding Fathers wanted religious freedom and did not want the government to dictate one religion. They did not want God to be taken out of everything. In fact they stated, that the Constitution and a free republic cannot survive without a moral religious society.

What tells us what is right and wrong? It came from somewhere. America was founded on Christian values. God and His Word tells us what is right and wrong. It was handed down from generation after generation and the Founding Fathers hoped it would continue. The Christian religion is all about freedom. The freedom to choose which religion you believe in or the freedom to choose Not to believe in any religion. So we can all thank God that our Founding Fathers were of the Christian religion, so we can enjoy our wonderful religious freedom today.

"Without morals a republic cannot subsist any length of time; they therefore who are decrying the Christian religion, whose morality is so sublime and pure (and) which insures to the good eternal happiness, are undermining the solid foundation of morals, the best security for the duration of free governments."
Charles Carroll, signer of the Declaration of Independence

Do you know about all of the quotes from our Founding Fathers, promoting the Christian religion? Here are just a few more:

"It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here."
Patrick Henry

"Finally, let us not forget the religious character of our origin. Our fathers were brought hither by their high veneration for the Christian religion. They journeyed by its light, and labored in its hope. They sought to incorporate its principles with the elements of their society, and to diffuse its influence through all their institutions, civil, political, or literary."
Daniel Webster

"It is when people forget God that tyrants forge their chains."
Patrick Henry

Our Founding Fathers were worried about people turning away from God in their lifetimes, imagine what they think of us now? We must all continue to fight to keep God in our lives.

May God bless America!
