Full Review

Welcome to Walt Disney World's time travel machine - Pop Century Resort. Guests at this Walt Disney World Resort will experience déjà vu, as they remember popular icons and images from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. Kids of all ages will delight in the incredible theming and the large variety of entertainment options at the Pop Century Resort, despite the limited luxuries available in the guest rooms.

The fun-filled atmosphere of Pop Century Resort begins immediately upon your entrance to the grounds. You are greeted with signs vibrant, colored signs reading "Pop Century" and "Remember when?" The front of the resort invites you into the lobby of Classic Hall, where you will find "Everything POP", a gift shop and food court. The theming is carried out in Classic Hall through the use of "Memory Boxes" tacked onto the walls, containing nostalgic items from years gone by. Outside Classic Hall, larger than life icons and gadgets are scattered throughout Pop Century Resort. Giant foosball men, an enormous jar of Playdough, huge Duncan yo-yos, massive bowling pins, and a colossal, lighted Rubik's cube are among the many items situated on the grounds, which create an unforgettable atmosphere for the young and old. It is evident upon arrival, that the theming a the Pop Century Resort cannot be beat.

Scores of entertainment options are available at the Pop Century Resort at Walt Disney World. The Resort contains 3 themed pools, which are shaped like a flower, a bowling pin, and a computer. Guests can also cool down in several sprinkler areas, which are scattered throughout the resort. Playgrounds and the "Fast Forward" arcade are also available for guest use. Guests are entertained at poolside with ping-pong tables and by the members lifeguarding staff, who periodically pull out hula hoops for guests to use. While in the food court, guests are entertained by sporadic staff performances of "The Hustle."

Unlike the over-the-top theming and variety of entertainment options, the guest rooms are very basic. Each room contains two-double beds or one king bed, a small table with two chairs, a one-sink vanity, a clothes hanging rod, an ironing board and iron, a wall safe, and a separated bathroom with a full sized bathtub -shower unit and toilet. Although the rooms are small and do not contain any extras, they are clean and neat.

Overall, I give the Pop Century Resort at Walt Disney World a thumbs up. It is a great place to stay for a one of a kind experience.

In Closing

Despite the very basic room accommodations, the fun atmosphere and variety of entertainment options make Pop Century Resort a great place to stay for a Walt Disney World family vacation.
