Songs of the 1970s

Songs of the 1970s

The decade began with the surprise break-up of The Beatles and the premature deaths of Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, and Janis Joplin. The Sony Company introduced the "Walkman," the first portable stereo.  Artists such as Paul McCartney and Wings, The Eagles, The Doobie Brothers, and Fleetwood Mac enjoyed pop success in the 70s. The movie "Saturday Night Fever" started the disco craze, with groups such as The Bee Gees, ABBA, and KC and the Sunshine Band capitalizing on the frenzy. One of the biggest disco singers to come out of the 70s was Donna Summer, with hit singles such as "Love to Love You Baby" and "Last Dance," she was the queen of the disco!

Do you remember your favorite songs of the 1970s? Here are some of the most popular songs from that decade, in alphabetical order.
