Like many German car manufacturers, Porsche has earned a reputation for outstanding engineering, very good reliability, and high levels of luxury and style. And back in 2006, Porsche proved this again, when it received the title "the most prestigious automobile brand" by the Luxury Institute in New York.

And it is a title that is well deserved. For many years Porsche has introduced many iconic cars, and one of these, the Porsche 911 is arguably the most popular, and most recognized. Today, there are many a Porsche 911 for sale, both modern classic.

Also known as the "Nine-Eleven", the Porsche 911 is 2-door luxury sports coupe that was first produced back in 1963. It is a car that has burned itself into the psyche of the automotive community. Many people will immediately think of the basic shape of the 911 when they hear the word Porsche, even if they don't know about the car.

This is because the 911's shape has become the basis of many of the popular Porsche cars. In fact, the basic shape of the 911 has changed little throughout the decades. The lines, the lights, the tail, and the overall design, have mostly been preserved.

But while the basic shape has stayed, the technology and engineering has advanced, as it always had. All of the subsequent variants of the Porsche 911 have advanced in performance and level of luxury. When the first 911 rolled out of the factory, it was equipped with an air-cooled engine which could only produce 128 hp. Today, the most advanced Porsche 911 can produce over 350 hp, and can bring the car from 0-100 km in under 4.2 seconds.

While advancing technology is expected in cars, the 911variants have always proven to be more advanced than most cars during their day. Such is the case with the Porsche 911 GT3, which is the sport edition of the first water-cooled 911. A used Porsche 911 GT3 for sale can still cost quite a pretty penny, and this is because it can still go toe-to-toe against many modern vehicles.

Buying any used Porsche 911, especially those with proper papers and documentation, can be a very good investment for any sports-car enthusiast.
