Portable Propane Heaters

By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

While propane heating has not been the most popular style of indoor heating, it is growing in popularity mainly due to the fact that propane heaters are quite a bit safer these days than in the past. Propane heating produces a byproduct of carbon monoxide, which can be lethal as it replaces the oxygen in the air. However, these days all indoor propane heaters have built in safety measures whereby the heater will detect the oxygen level in a room and automatically shut off if it gets below a certain level. Mounted propane heaters are usually vented, so all the carbon monoxide is shunted outside rather than staying inside.

Propane heaters have been used for many years for camping and outdoor heating. This is perhaps the most popular style of portable propane heating. A small heater is attached to a small can or cylinder of propane gas (LPG) which fuels the heater. They come in a variety of sizes, ranging from very small to those large enough to heat up a larger sized room. Of course, when using these types of portable heaters you do need to make sure the area is well ventilated, even if you are just using it inside a tent to warm up the air inside.

Portable indoor propane heaters are becoming more popular now. They are fairly inexpensive to run, propane is very easy to find and they both fire up and heat up a room fairly quickly. They are perfect if you are in a situation where you need to heat up only one room, or where your regular heating is not adequately heating up a room. Most portable models have a handle on the top of the heater so they can be easily moved from one room to another.

Some of these portable heaters also come with a fan that will expel and circulate the warm air around a room, in much the same way that a small electrical heater will do. These type will often have a battery to power the fan, though the heater will work fine without the battery; the fan will not work but the heater will still warm up the surrounding environment.

The fact that propane heating costs are actually quite a bit lower than many other types of heating makes this a very attractive option for people who want to keep their heating costs down during winter. They also work as a great backup heater to have on hand for those times when the electricity goes out during a winter storm.
