Prefold Cloth Diapers Are Not Just For Home Use

By | Oct 23, 2009 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

The conveniences of disposable diapers are touted by many. The reality is that if you use prefold cloth diapers, they are just as convenient as the disposables while out and about. They actually take up less room in the diaper bag and only need one cover with them, not a cover on every one.

The truth is that prefold cloth diapers can not only save you money but you will know exactly what you are putting on your child. By washing them at home, the knowledge that there are no extra chemicals being put next to the baby's skin should be comforting. With disposables, there are untold amounts of chemicals used to make them.

One of the few things that need to be kept in mind is that when out and about, some type of storage will be needed for the soiled diapers so they can be taken home and washed. A plastic bag with an air tight seal works quite well and there is no odor once closed. Unlike disposables that are tossed into a public trash can.

When used in conjunction with a diaper cover, the prefold cloth diaper is just as leak proof as a disposable one. If the cover is not in use, then knowing when the baby needs changing becomes that much easier as it will be wet on the bottom. The disposables require constant checking.

With more frequent changes, the chance of a skin rash developing is reduced greatly. With disposables, you may not realize the baby needs to be changed for quite some time, particularly if they are asleep. This is yet another reason to use prefold cloth diapers.

While the disposables are great for some, the prefold cloth diapers are not only just as convenient, but more of a money saver in the long run. Cleaning them off and storing for transport bag home is a simple procedure. This lets the trip go on uninterrupted other than the time to change the baby.
