As you age, the middle layer of your skin (the dermis) loses elastin and collagen, needed for young-looking skin. Fortunately, you can incorporate anti-aging techniques into your daily routine to prevent premature wrinkles.
Avoid Premature Wrinkles From the Inside Out
It’s important to care for your skin from the inside out. Give your skin the nutrients it needs through the foods you eat. For instance, eat plenty of green leafy vegetables, such as collard greens and spinach. Besides providing the needed nutrients for your skin, green vegetables provide oxygen, needed for circulation and good health. Berries and other fruits contain antioxidants, needed to prevent premature wrinkles.
Water is another element of an anti-aging skin care program. Skin that is dry and dehydrated is more likely to develop wrinkles. In contrast, hydrated skin generally has a plump and supple appearance. It’s a good idea to drink your recommended 8-10 glasses of water daily. However, if you’re experiencing renal or congestive heart failure, follow your doctor’s recommendations regarding water consumption.
Anti-Aging Skin care Products
Choose skin care products, like moisturizers, that contain vitamins A, E and C, which are all important to enjoy healthy skin and avoid premature wrinkles. According to WebMD.com, vitamins E and C are essential to counter the premature aging effects of sun exposure, while vitamin A draws moisture to the skin’s surface and keeps it hydrated and plump.
Research shows that Coenzyme Q10 aids in the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, says the Mayo Clinic.com. The reason Coenzyme Q10 helps to detoxify the skin is due to its antioxidant properties. Since toxins contribute to premature wrinkles, detoxifying the skin produces an anti-aging effect and keeps it looking young.
Avoid Direct Sun Exposure
Wear long sleeves and a hat or sunscreen if you have to spend time in the sun, even on cloudy days. Exposing the skin to direct sunlight is the No. 1 cause of premature wrinkles.
You can avoid premature wrinkles if you incorporate anti-aging skin care tips such as the ones mentioned above. Take care of your skin from the inside out. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables for their nutritional value, antioxidant properties and to oxygenate your body. Remember to drink sufficient water daily, and select your skincare products carefully. Make sure that your moisturizer contains vitamins A, E, C and K, as well as Coenzyme Q10. Above all, don’t forget to protect your skin from the sun.
