Preparing for A Big Move

By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

If you are moving from state to state or even down the street moving can be a lot of work and very stressful. Some people have never moved out of the house they were born in and some people move very often. I would say that I am one of those who move from a lot except I don't move from state too state but even more than that, my family and I country hop. It's the job that my husband has that requires us to move very often. I have become an expert in how to prepare for a move. Besides having lots of coffee, you'll need to prepare ahead, start cleaning up the house, and save all your important documents.

Before anything I would like to mention first that the most important thing to get is your rest. No matter how much you have to do you should not over exhort yourself. This will leave you very tired, unable to remember anything and discombobulated. You should prepare for moving at least two months in advance. You can start packing up all the clothes from last season and get rid of everything you don't need. By getting rid of worn out or outgrown children's clothing you will lessen the load.

Start cleaning up the house, this way you know you won't forget anything. Have moving boxes with large labels on them labeling its contents. This will help you find what you need when you need it. This also helps you unpack much quicker. Use aluminum foil to keep your stove top clean for the last few weeks before the move. You don't want to wait till the moving truck comes to scrub the stove. The same goes with the refrigerator. Try to keep it clean at least 2-3 weeks before transporting it. Only buy groceries for every 3 days and try to finish all the packaged and canned food you already have so you don't have to take them along also. In other words empty out your kitchen.

Every family has very important documents that might even be irreplaceable so you need to keep them safe. Any kind of move will be hectic and stressful and you probably still might lose things.

It's good to prepare ahead for any kind of move because there is too much work to leave for the last minute. Make sure you have the right moving boxes and even moving blankets these will help protect your furniture from scratches and other damages.
