A door wedge alarm, a portable entry door guard, and a doorknob guard are all types of portable door alarms to safeguard a home from intrusion. Alarms of this nature are able to detect pressure or a vibration against a door or its handle.

A doorknob guard (often in the shape of a padlock) is able to detect the presence of would-be intruder should pressure be placed on a guarded door. A compact gadget that’s attached to a doorknob and turned on - often activating itself with 10 - 15 seconds. These protection devices act as a portable door guard, whereby it emits a LOUD siren, or as a safety alert for a small child or elderly relative, in which case a more acceptable chime alarm will sound.

A portable door wedge guard (similar in shape to a plastic doorstopper) pushed in place at the foot of a door is able to sound on the first sign of vibration or pressure. Once activated, a door stop alarm emits an ear-piecing 110 dB noise as soon as contact is make to on its metal plate.

A portable entry door guards is effectively a foldable metal arm to stop a door being-opened. The top end of the leg is jammed under a doorknob and the other end rests on the flood, often coated with a non-slip pad to grip a floor surface. These intruder alerts are again able to detect the presence of a vibration and emit a warning should someone attempt to break-in. The metal arms are adjustable, so can accept most door sizes and heights.

A combo security bar offers a similar function to the foldable metal arm mentioned, but can secure a hinged or sliding door. A multi-purpose tool able to reinforce most hinged and patio doors with a protected foot so that it does not mar a floor or door surface. Often constructed in a heavy-duty steel to cope under pressure, with a maximum force in the region of 325lbs.

Security products, such as a portable door alarm offer a simple and effective tool for securing a private residence and for something that might simply hang on a doorknob, these alarms can be surprisingly valuable.
