Preventing Sickness From The Common Cold

No one likes being sick. But we are all bound to end up catching a cold at some point in our lives. Luckily, there are a few measures you can take to limit your chances of catching a cold. Read on to learn how to stop a cold in it's tracks.

First, when the flu and cold season hits, you should increase the frequency in which you wash your hands. You also should utilize hand sanitizer as well. This will help prevent the spread of germs and flu viruses and it lowers your risk of contracting a cold or the flu.

Next, you should always dress warm when you are outdoors. It is important to dress in layers of clothing and to also wear something warm on your head. This helps insulate your body and keep it warm.

You should also drink plenty of water and eat plenty of fruits during the cold and flu season. You should especially eat plenty of oranges, apples, and berries. These fruits are high in Vitamin C and Antioxidants which help boost the immune system and fight colds and the flu. Green, leafy vegetables like broccoli, spinach, and greens also provide you with a lot of vitamin C and can help prevent a cold.

Next, you should consider supplementing your diet with Vitamin C. This will tremendously boost your immune system's defenses. Vitamin C is one of the most important vitamin in fighting colds and flu like symptons and when you actually have it cold, your body will need more Vitamin C to fight the cold. A good multivitamin will also help you by nutrturing your body with all the nutrients and vitamins it needs to optimally function.

You should also go to the doctor and have your annual flu shot administered. This will serve to help you prevent you from getting the flu. Research has shown that getting your proper vacinnations on a yearly basis can help you prevent getting a cold, flu, or other disease.

Lastly, when you are in the house, keep something warm on your feet and dress warmly. You should wear house shoes or socks because its easy to catch a cold through your feet. Also avoid being outdoors in severely cold weather and stay inside somewhere that is nice and warm.
