Prevention and Cure for Migraine Headaches
Migraine headaches are a class of headaches where headache pain becomes severe, with head pounding, bell ringing, and pain rising. Migraine attacks usually come or follow stress, diet, or other factors. It may run in a family. Prevention and cure for migraine headaches therefore becomes crucial to get relief.
Migraine attacks often start with a diminished flow of blood to the brain, due to constriction of blood vessels. This results in dizziness, mood swings, and other symptoms. Within hours, it moves to pounding headache or head pain. Other accompanying symptoms include tingling in the arms or legs, light flashes, blind spots, nausea, vomiting, and fear for light.

The drug often given is ergotamine, and should not be taken for more than two days in week, according to advice.
Early detection of migraine attacks can bring relief through the use of over the counter pain killers like ibuprofen or aspirin. These are usually effective for minor headaches, but for migraine attacks your doctor may prescribe ergot alkaloid. This will aid in narrowing the dilate blood vessels that are responsible for the causing of pain.
When injected, drugs ergotamine and related ergotamine, when prescribed, can bring relief to migraine within few minutes. A prescription drug taken by injection, called sumatriptan works well with great benefits and without side effects.
Having two or more migraine attacks a month with severe pain, may lead your doctor to recommend that you take medications daily to prevent the attacks. Other useful drugs that can deal with migraine attacks include beta-blockers, propanolol, timolol, and nadolol. Also calcium channel blockers and antidepressant drugs may be help prevent and cure migraine headaches. Consult your doctor for further help.
