Should I Buy a ProForm 995 or 995C?
Making the decision to get fit isn't easy, but it's a great thing to do even though you're going to be working hard. Of course, one of the most important things that you're going to do is to exercise. But not all of us these days have time to get to the gym every day. If you've got a busy schedule and just can't spare the time to hit the gym every night after work, then you might want to think about exercising at home. And what better way to do that than with a home treadmill? You can exercise in the comfort of your own home, and with a treadmill you can even get your work out whilst you're watching TV. But with so many treadmills on the market you might be wondering which one is the best to buy.
That's why we're here to help you by comparing some of the best treadmills on the market. Today we're looking at two Proform machines. Proform is one of the leading names in home exercise equipment, so you'll know that you're getting a great product. Two of their best-selling machines are the Proform 995 and the Proform 995c (the latter being a newer 'upgrade' of the former). But which offers the best value? In other words, which one should you buy? Read on to find out which of these two treadmills is worth spending your cash on...
The Proform Specs...
Both of these devices have some great specs. The 995 has a 2.75 CHP Mach Z Commercial Pro Motor, but the 995C gets a little more power with a 3 CHP motor. Whilst both motors are designed to be both smooth and quiet, you'll get a little more oomph in your work out with the more powerful 995C machine, meaning that you'll get faster speeds which for the serious runner will be important.
Both machines also have both a Quick Incline and a Quick Speed function. Quick Incline will allow you to change the slope of the device from zero to twelve per cent at the touch of a button, whilst Quick Speed will let you change speed from zero to twelve miles an hour at the touch of a button. This means that your work out will be more effective, since interval training (changing pace every few minutes) will be easy and fast too.
And finally, belt specs are extremely important in a treadmill, and both of these models have a twenty by sixty inch two ply commercial tread belt. Two ply means that the belts are hard wearing and won't snap after repeated use, and the longer size means that you can have a longer stride on the treadmill itself, letting you exercise in comfort. Of course, both belts are cushioned to prevent joint injury from shock. These treadmills support weights of up to three hundred and fifty pounds, and they both have solid dimensions, with the 995C model being a little bigger though only by a few inches.
The Proform Features...
Once you've dealt with the important specs, you want to start thinking about features, and both of these treadmills have some amazing features. Both feature iFit live, which allows you to download work outs which the treadmill will respond too, adjusting settings automatically to follow along with your chosen work out. When it comes to exercise, your heart rate is important, and the 995 model measures your rate through the handlebars of the device, whilst the 995C uses a wireless chest strap which gives it a little more reliability.
On both devices you can read stats and important information on an LED display, though the display on the 995C is a little larger and therefore easier to read. Moreover, they are equipped with CoolAire Workout fans, installed within the treadmill and are aimed at your core area to keep you cool whilst running (making it a bit more comfortable for you & as a result potentially enhancing your endurance). And finally, both devices also have a socket in which to plug your MP3 player to allow you to enjoy your own music as you work out.
Both of these are spectacular treadmills, and either one is a great choice. When it comes to finances, the 995C model is a few dollars more expensive, though only around fifty dollars through most outlets (in some cases they are the same price, in which case opt for the 995C). Given this, the Proform 995C is probably the better buying decision. The 995C has a more powerful motor, giving you a better work out, and the wireless heart rate belt is just more reliable than using a hand grip measurement system. However, the two are very similar in their specs and features, so you're not going to regret purchasing either one.
