Protect your skin from sunlight

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

Here's why you should stay out of the sun when you can and use sun blocking anti aging creams. In fact, for your face, you should always stick to those anti aging creams that have a sun block. Read on if you want to know why they are the most effective ways to prevent premature aging and minimize wrinkles.

For a long time people used to think that there's nothing better for your skin than exposing it to sunlight. Believe me, that wasn't so long ago. Well it falls into the same category as the idea that people had that smoking was healthy. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Yes, I know, we need SOME sunlight for our body to make vitamin A. But that is only a very small amount and it doesn't even require us to be exposed to direct sunlight. Just some daylight is already sufficient for vitamin A.

The damaging effects of sunlight on your skin

Meanwhile, sunlight has been proven to be very destructive to our skin. Not only does it cause premature aging and wrinkles, but it also massively increases the risk of skin cancer. It is not an exaggeration. Sunlight makes you look older sooner and that is a fact. In a text book there was a photo of a female taxi driver who had been in her job for some 20 years. The left side of her face looked about 15 years older and had far more wrinkles than the right side. It must have been in one of those countries where the driver's seat is on the left side and the sun would nearly always shine on that side of her face. I wish I still had that photo for you guys to see.

So what can you do to limit the damage caused by sunlight?

The obvious one is: don't sunbathe – ever. The lighter your skin, the more sensitive it is to sunlight. People with a very pale skin tone should NEVER sunbathe. Stay in the shade when you can. I know, life is miserable to hide away from the sun all the time. But you don't have to do that. And when you know that you'll be exposed to a lot of sunlight, then wear something to give you protection. People often wonder why I wear clothes that cover all my body in the mid summer. Well they don't know that, if those clothes are pale and thin, then they keep you cooler than having your skin exposed.

Sun block is essential if you do decide to sunbathe and many anti aging creams contain a sun block. Those are the best and most effective anti aging creams anyway when it comes to fighting wrinkles. The sun blocking effect of those creams is the best anti aging effect they have on your skin – far better than all those moisturizers, vitamins and antioxidants.
