Puerto Rican Vacations

Puerto Rico is a verdant mountainous gem located in the azure waters of the Caribbean Sea. This unique island paradise offers breathtaking mountain vistas, sparkling blue waters and lush green forests. It is the perfect place for a vacationer to totally relax and soak up some of the warm Caribbean sun. However, if you are a more adventurous traveller and want to immerse yourself in the various activities that this island has to offer, there are a host of things that you can see and do. There are museums to explore and spectacular horseback riding trails to admire. Beach lovers who want to work on more than their tan can try surfing, fishing, kayaking, scuba diving, snorkelling, windsurfing and parasailing in some lovely deep waters.

In Puerto Rico the visitor's dilemma is usually where to begin, there are so many things to see and do. For golf connoisseurs there are the irresistible fifteen championship golf courses; all of them located a short drive from the San Juan metropolitan area.

If you are a nature lover there is a smorgasbord of activities in which to immerse yourself. The El Yunque tropical rain forest is one attraction you won't want to miss. The forest spreads out over a mountain, and at certain points you can catch breathtaking panoramic views of the island. At any altitude you'll see an abundance of plant and animal life and if you listen carefully you may hear the sweet song of the local Coqui tree frog. The Yokahu tower which is located in the rainforest is an ideal vantage point to view the awesome vistas of the north east side of Puerto Rico.

If you are nocturnal you will enjoy the nightlife in Puerto Rico it varies from the placid to the wild. For a tranquil night out with mysterious wonders, the bioluminescent bays near Fajardo and in Vieques are a sight to behold during a new moon. The microscopic organisms that live in these waters glow in the nights; take a kayak or boat tour during this time to see them close up and get the best effects.

For a more up tempo vibe there are a variety of casinos where you can try your luck at roulette or blackjack. If you feel like dancing there are plenty of nightclubs to keep you busy. Also, there are a variety of restaurants where you can dine and have a great time; many of which are four star restaurants located in the capital San Juan and surrounding areas. Others are more casual street side cafes or local bars where you can hear the bawdy jokes of the locals and eat traditional mouthwatering foods such as mofongo. This is a popular Puerto Rican dish of mashed plantain filled with seafood.

You can never be bored in Puerto Rico, so go and have a great time!
