Purchasing a Hockey Stick?
Are you about to purchase or looking to purchase a new hockey stick? Well, there are several things that are very important that you are going to need to know before purchasing a stick. Some of those things include, whether you need a right handed or left handed stick, whether you want a one piece configured or a two piece configured stick, and what type of shaft it is you want. These are serious questions that you as a hockey player must answer before knowing what hockey sticks are the right one for you.
In order to know whether you want a one piece or two piece configured stick, you must first know what they are and the difference to them. A one piece configured stick is usually a wood stick, but it is not always wood and could be a composite stick. Therefore, it comes pre-assembled and saves you the work from doing it and you know it is put together correctly and legal. A two piece configured stick is where you would purchase the shaft, and then purchase the blade both separately. Therefore, you would have to put them together yourself or have somebody put them together for you. The two piece configured stick is generally used by more experience hockey players. So if you are new to the game of hockey and purchasing your first stick, I would recommend a one piece stick but your choice of wood or a composite stick.
After you decide whether you want a one piece or a two piece configured stick, you have to decide what type of material you want your stick to be made out of. There are several different materials used and they all have their ups and downs. As stated before, one of them is wood. The blades of the stick is also generally made up of wood but can sometimes be wrapped with fiberglass. As well as blade, the shaft can be made up of fiberglass, aluminum, graphite, Kevlar, and titanium. Those five are generally used to create two piece configured sticks but are also used to create one piece sticks.
So if you arelooking to purchase a hockey stick, you must take several different steps to find the correct one. First, figure out whether you are a lefty or righty and which stick feels the most comfortable to you. Second, decide whether you want a one or a two piece configured stick. Lastly, decide what type of material you would like your shaft made out of. After you decide all of these things, you are well on your way to choosing the correct hockey stick for you.
