Pyrex Dishes - A Tradition in My Family

My mother used Pyrex dishes when she cooked; I use Pyrex dishes now, and my daughter uses them, too. So, I guess you could say Pyrex dishes are a tradition in my family. But hey, my mother found a good product and passed that knowledge along to me and then to my daughter when she gave her a set of mixing bowls at a bridal shower. In fact, some of the storage containers I use now have been passed down to me from my mother and mother-in-law, and I enjoy using these particular containers because of their history.

Pyrex Dishes - Mixing Bowls

Pyrex Dishes Mixing Bowls (30725)

Growing up, and learning to cook, one of the things I enjoyed most was to make a cake on Saturday for our Sunday dinner. And the way my mother taught me to make a cake is to first gather the ingredients and the utensils, and of course, the large Pyrex dishes mixing bowl was the first utensil I reached for. Another reached for utensil was the measuring cup. They still make the same Pyrex dishes mixing bowls, and they have even made tops that will snap on them for storage. Unfortunately, mine do not have the tops, but my daughter's does.

Making cakes may have changed now with all the different and powerful equipment we have for such jobs, but some things never change. We still need large bowls for the hand mixing of ingredients and for storing large servings of food. So, my Pyrex dishes are still an important part of my kitchen equipment.

Check out the many new pieces of Pyrex dishes mixing bowls. Also, check out their large selection of measuring cups, many of which have tops.

Pyrex Dishes - Bakeware

When making those Saturday cakes, if pineapple upside down cake was on the menu, then I would also reach for the Pyrex dishes baking dish. What would we do without those multi-purpose, handy, square, round, and rectangular Pyrex dishes? They are great for casseroles, cakes, puddings, pies, breads, etc., and they are so easy to use at home and to take out. Since they are made of clear glass, you can watch the progress as your dinner cooks, and take it to the table in the same dish.

I could not imagine how they could improve on these practical, useful Pyrex dishes, but they did. They now have snap on tops for many pieces. This is particularly nice when you have leftovers; snap on the top, and just place it in the refrigerator. They are easy to store in the refrigerator since you can stack them. This saves a lot of space in the refrigerator.

Pyrex Dishes - Storage

Buy a set of the Pyrex dishes storage containers and save money. Why? Because you will be able to see what you have in the refrigerator, and you will save money by using leftovers. I have some with glass tops and some with the snap on top, and I use both of them daily. Again, because of the tops, they can be stacked in the refrigerator or the pantry to save space.

In Closing

I can't imagine running a kitchen without Pyrex dishes. I didn't think a good product could get any better - but Pyrex dishes proved me wrong; they have gotten better. They have more types available, and with the addition of the convenient snap on tops, and in some instances, glass tops for storage, what more could you want? (Sorry, I don't think they can put a chef in the Pyrex dishes.)

Another very important point to make about glass Pyrex dishes is they are made in the USA. Purchasing this product will help Americans in this tough economy. Also, whenever you purchase any new item, please read the care and use instructions that come with the products to make sure you use it properly.

If you have a friend or family member who enjoys cooking, think of these at gift time and purchase one of the large sets of Pyrex dishes for baking and/or Pyrex dishes storage containers. They also make wonderful housewarming and shower gifts. This is truly a gift she and/or he will enjoy for years to come and will think of you when using them.

I love Pyrex dishes. My mom has given me a few of her old pieces, especially ones where she has duplicates. I didn't know, though, about the BPA free plastic lids. Excellent article. Thank you for sharing your review of Pyrex dishes.
