Quit Smoking Hypnosis - How To Quickly And Safely Get Rid Of Your Smoking Habit

By Edited Nov 1, 2016 0 0

There is more than one way to skin a cat, and that also holds true for quitting smoking. There are increasing numbers of medical treatments claiming to treat smoking and nicotine addiction, and there are also a great number of quit smoking hypnosis treatments available to those who want to stop their smoking habit. The fastest and least painful way to kick the smoking habit is to look for a doctor who is also a certified medical hypnotist. He can use both the most effective proven drugs together with hypnosis to really maximize the speed of your treatment. This is great if you can afford the medical fees or if your insurance covers the cost of treatment. But others will just have to rely on self-help smoking hypnosis. It will not be as fast, it will not be as certain, but it is free.

You can find many quit smoking hypnosis or MP3s being sold if you search on google. One problem is that if you do not have a personal recommendation from a trusted friend, you have no way of knowing which of these smoking hypnosis programs work. Even worse, you do not know if they will insert some form of hypnotic program that could make you continue to spend money with them. Now, many hypnotists say that they cannot make you do anything you do not want to do, but all of us have encountered salesmen who seem to be able to persuade us buy from them from them anyway.

One alternative around that uncertainty is to create your own quit smoking hypnosis script or program. Here is something you can do that is both simple and safe (for most people). First you induce a light hypnotic trance in yourself, then you replace your smoking habit with another action like sucking sweets (the best) or chewing sugar-free gum (if you are diabetic). This replacement action can be anything as long as it is easy to do (comparable to smoking) and reasonably enjoyable (if chewing naga jolokia, confirmed by Guinness World Records to be the hottest chili in the world, is how you get your kicks, then so be it).

Quit Smoking Hypnosis - Preparation Step

Schedule thirty minutes of free time, at least once everyday. Make sure you have your cigarettes and sweets with you.

Why do I recommend sweets with real sugar instead of sugar-free chewing gum? Because real sugar causes your brain to release neurotransmitters (brain chemicals) called serotonin which causes you to feel pleasure. The release of serotonin will help to overcome the feeling of nicotine withdrawal.

However, just suck on one small sweet, and suck it slowly. Otherwise too much sugar too quickly will cause your blood sugar levels to become unstable and make you moody.

Quit Smoking Hypnosis - Induction Step

There are many ways to induce a hypnotic trance, although not all of them are considered hypnosis. In the end, what other people think is not important. What matters is that it has been proven by scientists that most people accept hypnotic suggestions more easily when they are in a calm and relaxed state. The classic "Your eyes are closed and heavy" hypnotic state that you see in stage magic hypnotism shows is not necessary and not wanted for this DIY quit smoking hypnosis.

To get into your light hypnotic trance, you can use PMR (progressive muscle relaxation), autogenics, guided visualization or any other self help technique you have learned. But one simple technique is to count backwards from 100 to 1. Repeat the backward count until you feel calm and relaxed. Another simple method is to count your breath. In, 1, out 2, in, 3, out, 4 ... in, 9, out 10. Start again from 1.

Most people should feel a noticeable relaxation within 30 minutes. With enough practice, this relaxation can happen within 5 minutes under the right circumstances.

Quit Smoking Hypnosis - Substitution Step

Once you are calm and relaxed, you can substitute smoking with sucking sweets. First, you perform all the actions you normally would when you smoke. But this time, you do not complete the action. Instead, halfway through, you take out a sweet and suck on that instead.

When you first do this, you will probably exit the hypnotic induction. That is fine. Just repeat the induction and substitution steps a few times. Eventually, you will be able to complete the entire process of this quit smoking hypnosis without leaving the light trance state.

Don't over-do things. Don't try to get instant results. You do not want to make this quit smoking hypnosis exercise unpleasant. Repeat this once or twice a day, preferably at the same time(s) everyday.

Quit Smoking Hypnosis - Exit Induction Step

When you can complete the substitution step without leaving your hypnotic trance, you can just leave the trance by counting up from 1 to 5. If you like, you can also say, "I will count from 1 to 5, on 5 I am completely awake and feeling better than before. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, wide awake and feeling better than before." For this quit smoking hypnosis technique, either way works.

End Result Of This Quit Smoking Hypnosis Exercise

Eventually, every time you start to pull out your cigarette for a smoke, you will find yourself taking out a sweet to suck instead. This can take anywhere from a week to a few months, depending on how hypnotically suggestible you are. Just be patient and persist until you succeed.

In terms of mental hygiene, this particular method of quit smoking hypnosis is much safer than the more common alternative of anchoring the smell of rotting garbage to the smell of cigarette smoke. In recent years, some self help experts have suggested that methods using negative associations (of garbage to cigarettes) may have unpredictable future consequences.
